DC Infinite Crisis Deathwatch: How long before these new books bite the dust?

Eeep.. posted something to the wrong thread. sorry.

Who cares, Smart Guy is ten times better than Sister, Sister.

That show was dumb, youre a better man if you dont post that again.

I never saw smart guy, was it really that bad?

No, I got the point. I just thought the way you presented it couldve been better.

I'm getting tired with the ""Creative shock thing" it's being used so often it's no longer creative or shocking. DC's lust for killing off characters is getting tiresome.
But he ended up not doing it.

I will try harder. Just for you.

i dont care what they call trolling, reading the last post and posting your opinion on that last post that has nothing to do with the thread is ****ing trolling
If his comment is in reply to your post then it is on-topic. The only way it would NOT be on-topic is if the post he was replying to was off-topic. In which case that would make said post spam.

Dude, dont even bother quoting me any more. I lost all respect for you when you blocked me on AIM, that right there proved to me that you're a ****ing dumbass. Just act like I dont exist.

blue beetle started of kind of meh, but now i really like it
shadowpact, really wanted to like it dov was my favorite crisis tie in but the blood bubble kinda put me off hopefully it will get better like beetle did.
the atom is good fun, i hope they use the dog as the atom's transport more often :D

they should of kept wally as flash and bart as kid flash, its bino :(
checkmate is too serious and up its own arse

the martian manhunter mini is more interesting than i thought it would be, hope they make it an ongoing series of jonn going around sticking it to the man, he's the second most badass character after tim drake

Feel the love everybody!

Thought I'd check back in with this old chestnut thread. See who was right and who was wrong, what none of us predicted, what we all did.

52: Vic Von Doom hoped it would be cancelled midway through, and almost implied that he thought it would. Boy, was that mother****er wrong.

All-New Atom
: Matchesmalone said it would be cancelled in 2 years or less. SouLeSS called it dead after Issue 12, and drastic_quench called it dead by Issue 25. Issue 23 has been solicited for May 7, 2008, and the book doesn't seem like it's winding down to a close, which should make hippiehunter, who prayed for the book to keep going, a happy camper. I give this one at least another year, which is a turnabout for me; I despised the book when it started. And really, I do still want Ray Palmer back as the Atom. But until he decides to come back, Ryan Choi will do OK. I wonder if Corp's come around the same way I did: a year and a half ago, he said he had no interest whatsoever in Choi as Atom, even if it was the best comic in the world.

Aquaman: The Sword of Atlantis: SouLeSS thought the book would be "fine for a long time," and he was totally wrong. Hippiehunter liked it for some reason, but the rest of us knew it sucked. I'm told it had an upswing in quality towards the end, but that didn't save it from cancellation, which should makes me happy, since I wanted the real Aquaman or none at all. Corp had mixed feelings: as long as Orin had a presence in the book, he'd accept it. Then Orin died, not long before the book did.

Blue Beetle: Matchesmalone said it would be cancelled in 2 years or less. SouLeSS and drastic_quench called it dead by Issue 25. Issue 27 has been solicited for May 28, 2008, and if anything, it looks like a filler issue, not a series-ender. This book is just hitting its stride and shaping up to be one of my favorites of 2008, and possibly a retroactive favorite of 2007. I give this one a couple more years.

Cable-Deadpool
: Not even a DC book, but SouLeSS seemed to believe it would survive for quite awhile longer. And I guess it did make it about another year and a half, so his prediction's sorta true.

Checkmate: OtepApe didn't see it being canned anytime soon. SouLeSS called it dead by the end of 2007. Darthphere verbally assaulted him for it. And while the book might be dead to some people after Rucka leaves, Issue 26 is being solicited for May 21, 2008, the start of not just a new arc, but a new creative team. This book's around for at least another year, even though Yenaled seemingly implied that it would end when Rucka left. Green Lantern called it--the book is one of DC's best titles, and it's not getting cancelled. This book also has the only prediction that still can't be verified or denied: drastic_quench said it would be done before 50 issues.

Creeper: Cerealkiller hoped for a new ongoing, but he didn't really think it would happen. Matchesmalone said the book had no chance of lasting two years. They were right. Hippiehunter hoped it would become an ongoing, but it didn't.

Doom Patrol
: Cerealkiller hoped for a new ongoing. Yeah right. Although I get the feeling they're slowly reintroducing us to the Doom Patrol so we can eventually be induced to buy a DP book, it ain't gonna happen for awhile.

Firestorm: The guy at Kitsune's comic shop said Firestorm would be around for awhile, even though it was basically just limping along. I'd say he was wrong. Kitsune, on the other hand, was right: "looks like Firestorm is sinking."

Flash: The Fastest Man Alive: SouLeSS said it wouldn't be cancelled, but that it might "merge" into JLA, which doesn't even really make sense, but I think we can safely say he was completely wrong. OtepApe could not believe that Flash would be cancelled. "It just won't happen," he said. Hippiehunter liked it for some reason, but the rest of us knew it sucked. We were pleased when the book was cancelled after 13 issues. That low of a number is normally reserved for awesome out-there mid-90s books that don't sell well enough, not mainstream superhero titles. On the other hand, a new Flash book picked up almost immediately, so basically, all the people who said Flash couldn't be cancelled because of upcoming films and other dollar-sense, such as drastic_quench, were sort of right.

Hawkgirl: Hippiehunter and I swore it needed to go back to being Hawkman. Dumbdumduccan, on the other hand, loved the art, saying that Hawkgirl had never looked better. Hawkman did figure prominently in the book's final arc, but he couldn't save it from cancellation. SouLeSS, who called it dead sometime in mid-2007, was basically right on: it ended in September 2007.

Ion, OMAC, Omega Men, Martian Manhunter
: Matchesmalone said they would be cancelled in 2 years or less. Since they were minis, that was sort of a given, but they sure weren't turned into ongoings. Yenaled, Corp, and hippiehunter said DC would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't turn Ion into a mini, and although I didn't say so in this thread, I thought the same thing. In retrospect, I shouldn't have been as shocked as I was when it became clear that they wouldn't be doing that.

On the other hand, they seem to be putting J'onn EVERYWHERE in the DCU lately, so maybe they're prepping him for a new series/miniseries, or maybe just for reentry into the JLA. That might satisfy people like me and hippiehunter; he clamored for a J'onn ongoing with a different writer, while I wanted J'onn in the JLA. Thus far, Corp's wish for an Ostrander/Mandrake Martian Manhunter book remains unfulfilled.

Manhunter: Of course, at the time, we all thought it would keep going. It got two extensions...and then nothing ever did come of that second extension.

Shadowpact: The now-banned thread-starter predicted it would be out by the 24-issue mark. Cerealkiller said it had "the potential" to survive, but wasn't sure whether it would. KingofDreams said, in a roundabout way, that he didn't believe too much in Shadowpact's chances. SouLeSS called it dead by the end of 2007. OtepApe didn't see it making to Issue 20. Well, Issue 25 is currently being solicited for May 21, 2008...but that solicit almost sounds like it's the last issue of the book. Not so far off, prognosticators.

Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters, Mystery in Space: WompuM called them cancelled for sure. They were minis, so it happened. Cerealkiller hoped for a new USFF ongoing. He didn't get it, but he did get a new mini. Somehow, I doubt we can expect anything but minis for both titles.

Wonder Woman: SouLeSS said it wouldn't be cancelled, but that it might "merge" into JLA, which doesn't even really make sense. KingofDreams predicted, in a roundabout way, an early demise, but CConn, OtepApe and drastic_quench were having none of it. If things had gone as they do with most crappy books, KOD would have been right, but since it was Wonder Woman, they HAD to do something. Simone seems to be saving it. That'll please hippiehunter, who spoke up in favor of the book.

CConn, droogiedroogie2, dumbdumduccan: I don't know if anyone predicted it, but they definitely got cancelled. And as long as we're on the subject of users, that little catfight between Assassin and Darthphere sure was entertaining. What became of that? How do they feel about each other now?

Cable-Deadpool: Not even a DC book, but SouLeSS seemed to believe it would survive for quite awhile longer. And I guess it did make it about another year and a half, so his prediction's sorta true.

It should be said that the title is actually parting ways and both characters are getting their own solos, but I guess this isthe DC boards

At least hes in Countdown to Mystery. Out but not forgotten.

It still hasnt reached its potential, but I love the characters.

 USFF minis everyonce in awhile might work better than an on-going

You know what? Thanks for telling me that. I knew about the Cable book, but I hadn't heard about the Deadpool one yet. That brightens my day.

Don't get too attached. I think that May issue's gonna be the end.

I agree.
