DC's 2015 Event: CONVERGENCE

This Convergence thing is a perfect example. You think I'm going to buy every spin off series that stems from the main series? no. At the same time you can also bet that a lot of them sure do appeal to me and will definitely get a read. With that said I also know that the ones that don't appeal to me may also appeal to somebody else and it's a beautiful thing. More options is never a bad thing.

Perhaps to veteran readers it isn't, but for a novice comic reader like myself, it can be difficult to choose what to buy and what not to.
Like Cain says, simply pick the books that interest you. You can also ask your LCS clerk(s) for suggestions. Unless they're that kind of jerks that only recommend you what THEY like and have a ****** attitude like "don't read this or that, it's crap..."

If you know your way around reddit, there's a page dedicated to DC comics. It's really friendly: http://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/

There's also ComicBookRoundup, a review aggregator for comics similar to RottenTomatoes/Metacritic to give you an idea which series may be good or not.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'll definitely look at comicbookroundup to see what's good in the future.

I'll always have a soft spot for silver/bronze age Catwoman.

Bleeding Cool has told you how the Convergence titles from DC Comics will contain new, original preview stories for the June mini-relaunch titles, that won’t be reprinted until the collections of the series they promote. And how those stories will also be made available free on all platforms. Well, on Friday at the DC Retailer Roadshow in New York. The first issue of the Convergence two-part mini-series will have two page spread detailing that character or character’s history, for those unfamiliar with them.
And then the second and final issue will have an original eight page story to promote June’s books, both new and returning,
And as well as these not being reprinted until their respective trade paperbacks, this will also apply to the original material for Batman, Superman and Justice League in their FCBD Divergence title. No reprints until the collections for the respectiv

But nothing is really changing after Convergence is it?

Yep. Hopefully they keep old DC for Sensation Comics and Legends of the Dark Knight and show how those characters age a little more. Make a few twists and turns that you don't need to worry about with your main line of comics.

Story will trump continuity which is a pretty big deal.

Meaning if somebody wants to pitch a series about Wally and his kids & it's a quality story after Convergence they could very well do so. Without having editorial step on their toes because there is a younger unrelated Wally over in The Flash title.

I freaking love Manapul.

Yeah I don't think DC will give THAT much freedom. They still have certain agendas and characters they want to focus on.

I would love that. It's why I'm loving the digital stuff more than the main series. They just tell the stories they want uninhibited and they can be no frills fun or really thoughtful dramatic stories.
