Wow that trailer was great. One of the best trailers Ive seen. Movie or video game

I hope this comes out soon and doesnt get pushed back for years

I absolutely broke down at that trailer. Maybe I have a soft spot for dieing children...

good trailer. almost looks like a movie.

i hear it's going to be a mix of third and first person, and that it will be like an action/RPG game

One of the best trailers I've ever seen for anything. It could essentially stand alone as a short film. Brilliant.

This is the 1st trailer Movie or VG ever to Tug at my Heart

Wow that was a BEAUTIFUL Trailer

Wow, that was pretty damned good. I would love it if the actual story had a tone like that.

My friend showed this trailer to me, I was absolutely blown away. Screw the game, can they just make a film using that animation?

I just hope the game lives up to the trailer

According to the preview at IGN, it is. Its going to take a much more serious tone compared to Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead.

Dead Rising has an overall serious tone, but during gameplay and certain cut scenes it did have some comedy thrown into the mix. man, that game is addicting.

Left 4 Dead & the Resident Evil games have a serious tone througout. and if Deaad Island will be hardcore than those two, i can't even begin to imagine all the crazy stuff it will have. i am definately looking forward to it. another game to add to my list of must haves for 2011 releases :yay:

I've stated several times why I hate Dead Rising... just not my cup 'o tea. As for Left 4 Dead... I dislike both of them, I like a bit of story in my games, L4D is just run from point A to point B and shoot stuff.

Great for MP I guess... but left me wanting a LOT more SP wise.

that looks promising, i know its an older game but it will have a lot to live up to with the likes of dead rising 2

Yeah, like many have said, fairly brilliant trailer in all regards. It'd make a nice little short film, as someone else mentioned. Of course, it'll only count if it translates to the actual game, but it's attention getting, so I guess that's a positive step.

The trailer is glorious.

I should have figure it out that game would be Dead Island, as a couple of months ago i googled the game site, and it said site under reconstruction (it still does), so, the game was never cancelled.
Which in turn means that Warhound should be announced sooner or later too, as the site also say under reconstruction.

For the ones that don´t know, Warhound is a game announced by Techland in 2007 along with Dead Island

Warhound puts you in the role of a freelance mercenary, whose job is to intervene in some of the most brutal and precipitous armed conflicts around the world. You will choose from a number of differing missions, equipment and your character's development possibilities. During the game you will freely decide what skills of the mercenary you want to improve

Maybe Chrome II will also see the light of day sooner or later (they were also making it)

edit: Just went to the Techlad site and it say

The most recent projects are a survival horror – Dead Island, open-world FPS – Warhound and sequel to the acknowledged series – Chrome 2
So, yeah, the games are coming

edit 2: Just found out (the article is from April 2010)

Chrome 2 and Warhound were suspended several months ago. Despite the fact that Techland employs over 160 people and has 3 offices, 2 of which are purely development studios, it cannot do everything at once. As I mentioned earlier, we always have at least several projects planned and the interest of publishers and the market tells us in what sequence we should create them. Of course the games being suspended does not mean they won't be made at all. They are simply not being worked on at the moment.
So, MAYBE, the games will come out one day

Yea i think its more or less setting the tone for the game. We know the game will feature a more serious story considering the content and that the game will focus on melee combat, which was showcased in the trailer.

Still, its gonna be hard to live up to that trailer.

Being a zombie fan I'll play this. The trailer is pretty good for an early shot without letting us know about the gameplay. It's definitely got me interested, so I can't wait to see how the game plays.

First trailer(video game or otherwise) to make my eyes tear up.

Very cool. Didn't care so much about that little girl though. I wanted Mom to live.

It seems that the movie rights were already bought:

That didn't take long. Days after Dead Island's haunting trailer hit, making it the most talked-about game in development (well, this week), a report already has it that the producer behind "The Mummy" bought the rights to a Dead Island film adaptation.

Sean Daniel, a producer behind "Tombstone" and "Dazed and Confused" and, in a career at Universal preceding that, credited on "Animal House and Do the Right Thing," now has the film rights to the zombie story, reports Variety. His eponymous company picked up the option. Union's Dmitri Johnson and Richard Liebowitz are also in on the project.

This has been quite the week for Dead Island, a game resurrected from development oblivion by the shattering trailer showing a family on the resort-turned-hell fighting off a zombie invasion, losing their child in the process. Variety said Union has been following the game's development over the past two years, and the interest sparked by the viral video "validated the company's instincts."
