Dead Space 2

I think I like the first one a little better, but that one's not bad. I get a more combat vibe from it

I get somewhat of a japanese design vibe. Especially the helmet, a lot more angular. It's definitely a lot more edgy.

And ironically enough, when I googled for Dead Space armor, this picture came up.

The first armor, at least from what I've seen, seemed more neutral.

White Knight Chronicles? Get to number 2, Dead Space 2 is my most anticipated PS3 game of 2009.

New piece of concept art popped up

Got that from Kotaku and they commented that it looked almost exactly like one of the first pieces of concept art from the first game. I don't know if that means anything or if it's just EA recycling stuff.

I've never seen it before. It could be the Black Marker, which is mentioned in the first game but not seen. Maybe Isaac will be seeking it in the second game?

There are 3 Markers, Issac could be seeking them all out to destroy them.

One thing I think they need to improve is the other weapons. They were crap, the Plasma Cutter was easily the best gun in the game.

More info, from Game Informer:

- The game is set on a space station called "Sprawl", built upon the husk of one of Saturn's moons. It's big; a lot bigger than the Ishimura, and has whole themed wings, like residential quarters, public spaces, etc.
- There will me multiplayer
- Isaac will speak

Just a little more info on that:

http://kotaku.com/5423127/dead-space-2-multiplayer-bigger-world-space+floating

That Dead Space 2 issue of Game Informer has hit people's mailboxes, and it's full of proper details on the game. Like the fact Isaac will now speak. Let us all take a look, yes? First up, the game is set on a space station called "Sprawl", built upon the husk of one of Saturn's moons. It's big; a lot bigger than the Ishimura, and has whole themed wings, like residential quarters, public spaces, etc.
In terms of gameplay changes, you can now not only walk and jump around in zero-G, but fly/float as well, and you're able to shoot your weapons throughout.
Oh, and there'll be multiplayer. No real details on that, but really, you had to expect it.
That's the general gist of things. You want more the really fine details, you could always grab a copy of the mag.

I wonder what kind of MP? I hope its not deathmatch or other stupid mode. Not every game needs damn deathmatch.

Awesome. I was kind of figuring it would be a space station. Looking forward to the new setting.

5 v 5 zero g basketball!!!

You know, that would be something frustrating as all **** to do, but it would be interesting to try.

Ditto. I hope they do a team based mission(s) in the vein of Aliens were you have to fight your way through the space station and have more monsters, etc.

Yea, that would be pretty cool.

Well I just read that they want to make this game more actiony, and make you feel less vulnerable, which i'm not too happy about... Thats what made the first one so scary and tense!

If they're going to make it more of an action game, then they may as well make it Co-Op and call it Resident Evil in Space! (If it is actiony, i wouldnt mind co-op though, because the scariness is the only thing that makes it an awesome solo experience)

Yeah, that's a horrible idea. Where did you read that? The Game Informer article?

By the way, just in case anyone is interesting, they have released a Dead Space suit for PS Home. So, you know, if any of you are into that

Yea i just read the GI article and im now actually looking forward to this. They dont want to necessarily make it all about action, but they want to improve the pacing. They dont want you to be in that state of utter suspense the whole way through the game, they want to create peaks and valleys of it.

As for making you feel less vulnerable, thats the way it should be, to a degree. Isaac is no longer a green horn when it comes to the necromorphs the same way Ripley wasnt a noob when she encountered the xenomorphs her second time around. I still want them to keep the scarcity of equipment(which they said they are), so i think the evolution is about right. Isaac shouldnt be in this situation and go 'what? what are these things'. He should be prepared for them this time around.

I think EA has a good idea of how to evolve the game for Dead Space 2, although I'm a little wary about the space station, since the Ishimura, to me, felt like a space station with all of it's locations and this new station could quickly feel redundant if not handled correctly.

I agree with the fact that Iasaac should be much more preprare for the necromorphs this time. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a page from Aliens and having the military bring Isaac in as a specialist on the necromorphs, even though I know people will complain about it calling on too many elements from different sci-fi/horror films. I sincerely hope they up the action, but also pace that with plenty of puzzles, plot, and suspense.

Well according to the GI article, they are definitely upping the action factor in order to help with the pacing, there will be encounters where you are a bigger threat to your enemies than they are to you etc etc.

As for the space station, think floating city. They said there will be shopping malls, living quarters, govt offices etc, some of it will look brand new, other sections will look run down. That was my big concern as well, i mean even tho Dead Space was a new property, walking around the Ishimura felt like i had already been there so i deff didnt want to see something like that again.

As for Isaac being prepared for the necromorphs, they state the similarities between him and Ripley from Alien to the 2nd film. Isaac wont be going into the necromorph situation this time, instead he's going to be on the space station when the necromorph break out happens. He's deff going to know how to handle himself this time around. I just hope they give him some better weapons, i dont want a bunch of engineering tools again.

Lol now that i've been thinking about it, I actually wouldn't mind a Co-Op dead space... It could potentially be a whole lot cooler than RE 5. It's your comparison to Aliens that makes me think how cool it could be, considering Ripley wasn't alone in that and it had the whole military vibe.

Good. As much as I like the horror aspect, I'd like there to be some big actions scenes as well to really show what a badass necromorph fighter Isaac has become, and with his engineering knowledge, they can probably bring that into play as well to show off his mental skills as well.

That's good. I definitely don't want a new Ishimura. I wonder if they'll homage to Dawn of the Dead with a shopping mall scene. Blasting away Necros to the sound of mall music playing....

This I'm a bit concerned about. If they do it where Isaac just HAPPENS to be on the station, it will kill some of the story for me. But, if they explain something like Isaac is tied to the marker/Necros in some way after the events of DS or if the Necros/something else is out for revenge against Isaac, then I'll buy that a bit more. It'd be nice to see Isaac trying to live a normal life again when all hell breaks loose. He thinks he has the worst luck in the world but instead slowly starts to discover that he, the sole survivor of the Ishimura Incident, has a bigger role in all of this than he thinks.

As for the weapons, they REALLY need to give some better weapons, maybe even tied to the story, such as after the Ishimura Incident, maybe Isaac collaborated with the military to help create a new arsenal of weapons designed to fight Necros; weapons that he would find periodically throughout the game. I really wanna see some heavy duty weaponry: Shotguns, maybe napalm grenades/launcher, a devastating melee weapon, anything other than the selection in DS.

In DS, the only weapons I needed were the Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, Pulse Rifle, and Force Gun for those pesky tiny Necros that crawled all over you.

Yea, i think some type of co-op would be really fun and could be just as frighting as playing alone. If they pace it right, just as your are getting comfortable having a partner, the game could force one teammate to head to a sub basement while another heads to the bridge or something like that.

Well there is more to Isaac being on the space station. His dementia is really going to come into play in the second game according to the article.

Yea the weapons are another thing thats being improved. They mentioned a weapon that could impale and pin a necromorph to a wall then you can either electrocute the necromorph or blow it up. They also mention proximity mines. But thats what im hoping for, some more militaristic weapons.

That could be very interesting if the player has their heads thoroughly messed with via some extremely twisted hallucinations. I hope that plays a big factor in the story.

Those weapons sound awesome. I'm hoping for a shotgun style weapon to dismember a Necro.

Well, that could go either way then. I had no problem with the pacing in the first, but it's not necessarily a bad thing to try that direction, as long as they pull it off well

I guess I can see that, but I would still prefer to stay away from any 'guns blazing' scenarios in a solo campaign.

Yeah, I love the idea, but I would be disappointed if they went that way only for the game. I would prefer they do a solo campaign where the main story is, and have the multiplayer as a separate mission thing or as a mini-campaign. I don't care much for the idea of forced co-op
