The Darkness 2

Just realised that awesome Stark Trek movie co-op game that's coming out next year is made by Digital Extreme as well. I'm suddenly a lot more excited now, thanks to their co-op stuff in Darkness 2.

Pat, did you get this on PS3 or 360, because I'd def be up for some co-op if you're around.

Wow, this is a good game. Ive only played the demo but I loved every second of it. Im surprised bc I hated the demo from the first game and really turned me off from it but I got the opposite feeling here. I kinda dig the new art style and the controls feel great. I can see myself picking this up eventually

Edited to add: Just read on Wikipedia that the game is made by a different developer which explains why my impression is sooooo much better for this than the original title. Things make alot more sense now. Oddly enough the original team didnt do this bc they were working on Syndicate and I just played that demo this morning and hated it. Digital Extremes, worked on the Bioshock and Unreal Tournament series, all games which Ive loved, so it was probably for the best that they took over this one

I bought it for 360. I haven't even tried any of the co-op stuff yet. Deff gonna need to check that out.

The co op is great. The Irish guy or Shoshanna are the best. If you go to your bedroom when you're lookin for a weapon in the psych ward, theres a bunch of Darkness comics laying in there

Yea i noticed that during my first play through. There are also some in the magazine racks. Thought that was neat.

****ing loved the ending

For anyone who's read the comics, the Angelus looks AMAZINGLY spot on and accurate and the perfect way to bring her in. They better do a 3rd game now because Darkness vs Angelus would be simply divine.

Also, I want the 3rd game to have 2 player co-op with Jackie Estacado and Sarah Pezzini aka Witchblade. That would be a freaking amazing game.

After playing the co op in this game, Id welcome it in number 3

Yeah, I could see it being a lot like FEAR 3. In fact, the gameplay of this game reminded me a lot of FEAR 3 in general. Really easy to master controls with fun, fast paced and varied combat. In the co-op, you just get into the rhythm of playing around with the characters so easily that I could totally see them doing Witchblade's powers perfectly.

That would be totally awesome and very fitting.

Yeah, I'm telling you man, the way they carry the story in this game and then end it, it feels like it's stepped right out of the comics. Witchblade would be a natural progression, give Jackie a supernatural ally to help him with... his coming battle ;)

Also, apparently there are plans for both a Darkness movie and Witchblade movie next year or thereabouts, so it could quite potentially be on the cards.

One thing for sure, Digital Extremes definitely seems to have a healthy respect and understanding for the comics. I mean, they even changed Jackies hair from the straight, emo do from the first game so he looks exactly like he does in the comics. I'd say it's probably the best comic book adaptation in a while. I mean, i know Arkham City was great but that's Batman, he's a huge character. It's great to get such a faithful game for a totally non-mainstream character.

Now if only they would make a Spawn game.... then a Preacher game :P

Damn you, Wolvie!!! Now I might crack and pick this up full price!

I'd say its worth the 60 bucks. The campaign is only like 8 hours but its probably one of the most fun campaign's you'll play this generation just because The Darkness powers are so much fun to play with and the story is pretty damn good. The co op is also pretty lengthy and its really fun, each of the 4 different characters have their own special weapon which they're all fun to use. Not to mention there's a new game plus for the main story and that is where the real fun begins. Plus I can't get over how phenomenal the game looks. I read some people were annoyed by your little darkling friend but I loved that guy, he starts out as just comedic relief but his story ends up being really good.

The whole time i was playing this, i was like, i think something like this could work for Spawn. Instead of the darkness tentacles, we could use his chains. Hell they could prob even keep it first person considering Simmons is a fan of guns.

This game might not be on any of my top 10 lists, but still, playing through this game is easily some of the most fun iv had in quite some time. I loved how smooth everything is. Really, really fun.

Game is $12 at BB today. I think I will be leaving my house to go see if my local store has any still available

Dammit I paid $20 for it last week at Gamestop.
How do you like it? Was all set to head out but then realized it'll probably just sit on my shelf like all the other games Ive impulsed bought and havent gotten to

I bought the game when it came out and never regretted it. Seriously a cool ass game. I mean c'mon, u can pull a dudes spine out through his ass hole!

Yeah the way they integrated her was awesome! [BLACKOUT]Making Jenny the new Angelus host is the perfect way to go.[/BLACKOUT]

Sara and Witchblade are the obvious next step. I know that they are making a Witchblade game but I don't know if they will be allowed to put them in each others game because they are in different game studios.:csad:

I haven't even opened it yet; been too busy with Max Payne 3. Also, I checked my local BB today and it was still $29 so I feel better. :woot:

So I saw that sale pop up last night at midnight. Bought it real quick cause 12 bucks is a no brainer. However when I bought it said "Free Shipping" so I went with that option. Now I see it's store only pick up. Wonder where my game will go! Guess I better call someone lol.

So I just beat this game and I'm surprisingly "wow"d by it...The story is really great (I can't stress that enough...really good stuff, great dialog and voice acting too) and it's a lot of fun...so much so i just jumped right into new game + on the hardest difficulty and I plan on beating it again. It's not a bad length game either...not too short where i felt bummed, not too long where i though it ran out of ideas or steam. And i'm pretty psyched to play through the co-op since i'm reading good things in this thread!

Given how much I enjoyed the first game, this was on my radar since it came out...but i heard it was a bit on the short length end...so when i saw the 1 day Best Buy sale for $12 I was sold...and I gotta say it's the best damn $12 I've spent in quite some time.

I hope this game did well and a sequel is planned, because it ended amazingly and I want to see where the story goes really really bad. Also, anyone here read much of the comic? Any particular issues a fan could recommend?

Pretty much start from the beginning. There are some great Garth Ennis and Paul Jenkin's issues. But if you start from the beginning you'll pretty much see what the first game was based on, then why the ending for the second game was so exciting... Then why a co-op game with Jackie and Sarah Pezzini would be so cool :P
