I don't think it's going to be like RE 5... From the looks of the article, they just wanted to have more areas where there is room to breath, which isn't a bad thing... You need that in the horror genre, whether film or game, so you can lull players into a sense of security and then scare the s**t out of them all over again.
I don't think this game is going to be any less terrifying.. The bit about how Isaac has still lost his grip on reality looks really promising, like we might have some awesome F.E.A.R. style hallucinations...
I think the 'take charge' attitude is more towards just basic necromorpphs, and they're going to rely on new types of creatures for new fears. I find, even when playing Dead Space 1 on hard, the basic necromorphs don't feel as much of a threat just because you know there are scarier enemies out there, and you know the strategy to take them out.
