This one should be interesting. Deadpool is one of Marvels top sellers with comics and merch. His popularity is also huge with teens, gamers, cosplayers and social media.

Will that popularity reflect on a wide level to movie going audiences?

This is moving Fox out of their usual Marvel franchise route. So I think it will be fairly important when it comes to risks on other X-Men related IP's.

I'm voting 300 if it's rated higher than other Comicbook movies

In Aus, most CBM's are rated M (Mature Audiences), if its MA15+ or R rated, I can see a lot of the audience dwindling.

If its got the same ratings as other CBM's, probably 400ish

BRAB, many R-rated movies are M in Australia. I, for one, hope it'll get an R in the States.

That said, Deadpool's popularity doesn't have much to do with it. Comic book fans are still a niche audience. It'll all depend on how good the movie looks and how smart 20th Century Fox will be at marketing the movie.

Even with an R-rating, if the movie looks great and is marketed well, it could even do $300-400 million worldwide.

This movie would not have been given a screenwriter or release date if it was not for his popularity, so I think that has yet to be proven. Could very well be the case.

A well marketed and good film has a better chance regardless as you said. But his popularity has definitely came into play here so far. Whether that will actually help the film, will be interesting.

I doubt it'll be huge, although a lot will depend on the rating.

It doesn't. Look at the numbers Lucy made with an R-rating. Look at the Jump Street and Hangover movies.

@def: Of course he's popular. But the real numbers are made by the general audience. People who don't really know these characters except for Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and the others who are a much bigger piece of pop culture, and those who've had successful movies come out.

It's a Ryan Reynolds movie, so it will be a bomb. Under $50 million.

Such a stupid thing to say. At one point Christian Bale was considered box office poison and his stock in Hollywood was going down as quickly as it went up. He then got the Batman role.

Hmm not sure but right now

Domestic: $80-$100 million
Worldwide: $300-$370 million

February is a quiet month, if it goes big in North America like the Lego Movie maybe more than $400 million but this isn't an animated film.

Where's the billions button? Because it'll makes bilions - only if it's rated R, though. *cough*doitfox*cough* Quality over quantity. Make a good movie, not a hollow product.

I think 300 mil - 400 mil WW would be seen as a huge success for DP. I'd say around 100 mil for domestic.

I think it could make $400-600 million if it's done correct. The fact that it could be Rated-R means nothing in terms of how much money it could bring in. As stated above, there are quite a few Rated-R movies that have made money in that area.

Considering Fox's DOFP success, if they can keep that line of thinking heading into this movie, it could definitely do the same numbers. Deadpool does have a pretty huge following, after all.

I voted for $300 million!

I hope it gets an IMAX release!

It depends if its a good movie.I think if its a good movie it will make money no matter what rating.I'd say around 400-500m ww

Not really X-Men didnt even hit 1 billion with just 1 film.

Adult won't allow their kids to watch Deadpool movie.
So comic book and game fans.
Predict 300 mln.

Somewhere between 200-300 mill if it's a good movie.

Is this going to be R? I think it'll be closer to 300 if it's PG13

I think 200 million would be pretty good for an R rated Deadpool film. With a budget of around 60 million that'd be a great success.

Yeah if they spend anymore than 60-75 mill, and it's rated R, I think they'll be setting themselves for disappointment boxofficewise

They don't need more than $60-75 mil, and if they'll manage to create something which sticks out as something special it could very well surprise at the box office.

Look at what Lucy did at the BO, and the movie wasn't anything special (despite the first half being actually quite good).

I mean THe World's End was made for only 20 mill and that still has some of the best action Ive seen in a long time and the effects were good.
Im sure, if some of the actors take a pay cut, that they could make a great Deadpool movie for like 40 mill

Well John Wick was made for what, 20-30 million? Man that film looks soooo good. The only CGI i can imagine in a Deadpool film would be for his healing factor and if they mo-cap his facial expressions. Hopefully a lot of the action will be practical and if it is rated R... proper blood squibs!

Its Pg 13... thats why Fox finally gave it a release date.
