Deadpool 'Deadpool' nominated for People's Chioce Award

Deadpool just got nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay by the WGA!

It was also nominated by ACE for Best Edited Comedy.

that's ri-goddam-diculous
I liked this movie, a great deal, but the pinnacle of the superhero genre it certainly is not

Unfortully if it does get nominated for best picture it will strengthen kinberg chances of
convincing fox to direct next X-Men film.remember now kinberg has also produced another best picture nominee-the martian.if deadpool gets it,which isn't a crazy idea now, kinberg will now have produced 2 best picture nominees.

Are you saying this because its not a MCU movie? Be honest.

Anyway, wow another nomination. This is getting serious now.

not at all

Are you just trolling? Be honest.

This movie was good, but no thaaat good, imo
if Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, DOFP, GOTG, Winter Soldier or Iron Man don't deserve a best picture nod, then DP certainly does not
aside from the uber-generic plot, it was very funny (in a lovably juvenile kinda way)... but comedies don't get best picture nominations

Ok, that's a good list of CBMs you listed there, although you say Deadpool does not deserve to be nominated but Guardians do? Huh. I enjoyed Guardians but its like a pg 13 version of Deadpool, its also funny in a lovable juvenile way and a comedy like DP.

I loved Deadpool but never thought of it as being that good, but in defence of those voting it's not always about the best, it's about what they like the most, and most people like it a lot for what it is.

I could see that, I just feel Guardians had a slightly better plot and a more epic scope (budget's fault more than anything), and that the humor has held up better on rewatch... DP's jokes fell flat for me by the second time I saw it... but hey, that's all a matter of opinion

Pleased to here its doing so well in award season and a little surprised too, didnt think it would be the sort of film they go for but fair play to it, it seems like it worked for a lot of people.

There is a certain narrative to the history of the film that awards voters tend to be drawn to. Plus, it's probably helping they've launched a pretty hilarious campaign which could also be winning people over.

So proud of Deadpool. The shade coming from MCU/DCEU fans makes it even cooler.

X-Men film fans throw their shade as well. Many on the X-Men boards have not been very favorable of this film.

Bottom line, this is friggin fantastic for Deadpool. He's Fox's most accurate portrayal of a Marvel comic and one they were terrified to make happen for years. Far too many thought this would bomb and not hit well critically. Now it's their biggest success financially and the awards/nominations have not slowed down.

Deadpool getting award recognition is a great thing.

It was a total nightmare getting it off the ground. No one ever thought it'd actually happen. And when they did, it was practically a small budget indie movie that was made with passion, integrity and a singular vision. Not a commercialised made by committee tent pole.

People say the film was generic and cliche with a satirical paint job. Well no, actually. It's one of the very few cbms that is not about the end of the world. The structure is quite unique. The tone is one of a kind. No one has seen a protagonist like this before. Its basically a romance/revenge story with super powers. The screenplay is so genre savvy and condident that it highlights the clichés and tropes it uses... then craps all over them.

And the romance is the best in the genre... ever. It's got one of the best lead performances in the genre... ever.

It may not be better than your TDKs or your Winter Soldiers... but why would any self respecting fan of the genre be salty about this? It's like the story of Rocky. The dirt poor bum going up against the multi millionaire pampered prince.

I think it deserves a lot of credit for what it is, but not to be elevated into something its not

It's a great movie, one of the best based on a comic book, and if movies like Ghostbusters, Die Hard and Terminator 2 got Golden Globe and/or Academy Awards nominations (in whatever category) back in the day, I don't see why Deadpool should not.
It has a great script and a vivid direction. It's a memorable action-comedy, and as a movie (and piece of filmmaking) works better than most Marvel Studios and current DC productions thanks to its stand-alone nature.

Deadpool WGA & PGA nominations

Deadpool is headed to the Oscars baby!

Tim Miller nominated for first time director award for the DGA's

Which is what a ton of people say about the nominees every year.

these guys deserve an oscar! well done. I wonder how fox feels now after rejecting them repeatedly before Reynolds and co. leaked the footage.
