Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine at the BoX office

I'm a Marvel guy, so ultimately I want this to come on top.

I don't really see the point of Joker 2 especially after the new Batman movie.

$858,373,000 Endgame
$814,866,759 No Way Home
$700,426,566 Black Panther
$678,815,482 Infinity War
$623,357,910 Avengers
$524,000,000 Deadpool & Wolverine (22 days)

Only siX Marvel movies have crossed the $500 million mark at North American box office.
$500m domestic is a serious benchmark. Crazy that one franchise has 6 entries make it there. Secret Wars will no doubt get there too.

To the core.

I get the whole bragging rights bit, but Marvel has already won that race. Going forward its about pushing boundaries creatively/ cinematically for me. I don't want deconstructionist BS, but you can do both.

I'm not even a huge fan of the first Joker film as a Joker film. Its just a beautifully made piece of cinema, exquisitely shot and acted. From a box office pov, it's one of the greatest achievements in the genre on record. So you can't ignore the potential of the sequel.

Doomsday and Secret Wars will no doubt make it for sure, maybe F4 if it gets good reviews and is well marketed might stand a chance too. At least it feels like Marvel might be headed in the right direction again, just not too sure how Thunderbolts and Cap4 will be received.

The three MCU films would be lucky to hit $250 million in North American box office. I feel like post covid, its clear that there are certain films that people would collectively see in the cinemas, probably multiple times, to the point those films are breaking records. Spider-Man No Way Home, Barbie, Top Gun Maverick, Avatar: Way of Water, Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2.

But streaming is going to make it harder for a lot of films to cross the $200 million mark. So far in 2024, only five films have crossed that mark. Worldwide, only siX movies in 2024, have crossed the $500 million mark.

Yes, because it needs to be a step above decent / just good. With the concerns about the musical elements etc., it needs to be great to hit those kinda numbers.
Hitting a billion doesn't indicate that a movie is great. It just means it's popular and appealing enough to the masses to be grossing a billion.

Box office is not a good measure of quality. X3 outgrossed X1/X2/First Class for starters.

In the end, I couldn't care less how well Joker 2 does. Better, worse, same than D&W, I don't care. I don't plan on watching it either way.

Pretty close but it seems to have come out on top on Friday, quite a big drop for Aliens on the Friday unsurprisingly.
Alien doesn't have the best track record at the box office.

Like I said last month, Deadpool & Wolverine has no competition in August. Not even the Blake Lively movie which now earned more 100 million in North America.

Looking like back to number 1 then, really is Deadpool and Wolverines summer this year. :dpf: 👑 :snikt:

This years Barbenheimer in one, Wolverpool or....er........Deadverine??

The Crow didnt even make the top 5 opening weekend, yikes. :nrv::wow:

The Descipable Me franchise is one of the most successful movie franchises I haven't even seen. Well I haven't seen anything from Illumination due to lack of interest.

$587 milllion, North America.

Will be #1 again.

It should be able to cross $600 million mark in the next week or weekend.

Still ticking over nicely all this time after release. $600m domestic is a huge win for the R rating and setting new records all the time throughout its run.

Its still popular here in the UK it seems and even went back to some of the bigger screens around these parts after moving aside for Aliens and IEWU the past couple weeks. Impressive.
