Dear God. Stick To The Source Material

But Galactus isn't really neccessary as far as being a huge visible presence in this film. A glipse would be fine but just knowing he's there and what he's all about is enough for this film. If they further explore this storyline THEN it would be time to get into that but I want Doom wrapped up in this film if possible...at leats for now.

True Ad, the visible presence does not have to be huge for this movie, but Horatio has a point and that is that this is really the story (we hope) of the coming of Galactus. A huge presence is not needed if this is a two parter but we need to see 616 galactus even if only briefly.

Now if this is not about Galactus but this is a one shot finite movie focussing on SS with no Galactus confrontation in part 3 the epic scope of the movie will suffer.

It will no doubt be stunning but again it will represent a lost opportunity by Fox and Marvel.

Galactus done right in this movie is probably worth a 100 million bucks. The trades are already lumping this sequel in with Spiderman and Shrek, 616 Galactus would legitimately give it a shot at jumping to the rarified air of those two properties.

I can only hope that Fox and Tim deliver.

I just think the whole point is: Galactus is a must if we have his herald coming to Earth.

So, after Ioan's interview, I got a tad worried with the situation, cause it seems Galactus will either not be in the flick or will be in some alternate form for some seconds (like that poor Sentinel in X3).

I mean: if you're about to tell the tale, tell it all, or just say "it will be for the next movie if we can have the money to do so". Lame appearences of great comic book characters is a very bad option, IMO.

Have to agree with AD on this one. Wrap up Doom for now. Show Galactus near the end as a setup for the next movie. If they do not carry this out to the logical conclusion i.e bring on Galctus in 3, then that would be a crime. :cmad: Galactus in 3 is the logical next step, along with Franklin. :woot: Bring on Galactus, bring on Franklin. :woot:

Unless the Surfer convinces Galactus to leave at the end...for now. He could always pop up in FF4 or beyond when maybe they have a better understanding of how to create what people want on screen without it looking like purple cheese. Who knows.

Purple fart was the comment I heard, refering to Galactus. :wow:

I was with you.. Til this part.

And what is the matter with Franklin ?
If you want to stick to the source material then its illogical to bring Franklin in right after they take down galactus... plus by adding Franklin it will just make the movie more campier.

Sticking to the book is all well and good, and yes you would get to Franklin time wise at about FF 6 or 7. We all know there will be 3, mabey 4 FF movies. So sticking to the time line, when you have 5 decades of material, and sticking all 5 decades into 4 movies is impossible.

I just don't want him..
he is to campy..

After watching the boy in SR, I would normally agree with you. Most children in movies are a waste, but Franklin is an intrical part of the FF family. He would not be some where the heck did he come from child.

I think he brings an element to the franchise that the other comic book movies don't have....yes there is SR.....but he's not the son of 2 superheros who are known to everyone......bring on Franklin.....I'd love to see Sue get pissed off at Super Skrull when she thinks he has Franklin......

This thread is about sticking to the source material.
So, let's discuss Sue's hair. :woot:

Notice that Sue's hair looks just like Sue's hair in FF2.
This cover was drawn by Kirby, the guy who most diehards want the movie to emulate.
It's simple: If you hate FF2 Sue's hair, you hate Kirby. Dissing Kirby cannot be tolerated. Therefore, dissing Sue's new hair cannot be tolerated.
I love math. :cwink:

Bull crapola........the hair that Kirby drew is much, much, much more full of body than most of the pics we have seen, except the airport pics. The ONLY thing they have in common is length. If you want to see the hair they seem to be matching, watch the F4 Cartoon 2006...The hair she has had in most of the pictures doesn't match any of the issues of the comic, whether it be the regs, adventures, ultimate or MK...

What? That has got to be one of the most "out of context" statements I've seen in a while on here....."If you hate FF2 Sue's hair, you hate Kirby.???" Please tell me that is full on sarcasm.....:o :whatever: :cwink:

Moi? Sarcastic? You have to be kidding. :cwink:

However, there are some pictures where Sue's hair in the new movie looks just like the hair Kirby drew, IMHO.
There are also pictures where the wig looks very.... flat, as you mentioned.

Although I really love Kirby's work, we all know it was highly stylized. In order to emulate it, a director would have to make what Rodriguez did to Sin City, which is not the case, I suppose, by now.

And more: I would prefer that the movies would emulate John Byrne, and not only his art, but his rich and intelligent text, also. :hyper:

I was being sarcastic, and I totally agree with you.

"Sticking with the source" works for Frank Miller stuff, because of his style. Not so for many other comics (cough, *Fantastic Four*, cough) out there.

I think, right there, you give us the problem to putting comic books on the big screen....what artist do you emulate?.....what writer do you follow?.....

People have their favorites, to me you pull from the richness of all of them....and write a good script.

With the first F4 as I see it, is that as far as look, they got the characters down very well, except as far as Johnny, BUT they got his characterization spot on as far as one dimension of it.

The weakness of the first movie was in the script writing, which lead to characterization problems and then top that off with awlful editing, and you have what we got. To the average fan, as far as my little world is concerned, really enjoyed the movie. They went in looking for a popcorn fun, family summer movie and they walked out happy. To the fan of the comic, and people like me who knew of the potential of this franchise, walked out underwhelmed because of the above mentioned problems.

A problem, for some, was source material, and I'm afraid those fans will not be sufficiently rewarded....ever.......unless their favorite "source material" is up there.....

As for me, I don't want the source material from the first issues of the comic, but I understand and respect those who do.........my favorites are the MK issues, and we actually got alittle of that in the first movie.....and looks like alittle more in the second.....am I wrong for being happy with that? no.....is Horatio wrong for wanting the source material of the original? no......we just disagree in what we like.....:yay:
