The MacFarlane thing is proof that everyone knew about it and has known about it for years, but they just didn't care or felt Weinstein was too powerful for them to do anything about it.

SO everybody knew about it and nobody did anything about it. There's gotta be more people like Weinstein in Hollywood, they must have all grew numb to it and it became normal there. Sickening.

Unfortunately, that's usually part of the narrative to these situations. Either people didn't trust their own instincts about taking action, they tried and hit barriers, or they were simply too intimidated. We saw the floodgates open in the Bill Cosby sexual assault case, but only after Hannibal Buress called attention to the facts. One has to wonder if anything of the current magnitude in that case would have happened without a celebrity to shed light on it?

Well obviously people with first hand accounts should have said something, the thing is though even if it was the worst kept secret in Hollywood there would have been a lot of second and third hand information floating around, and most people wouldn't risk their neck for information they couldn't confirm.

Based on everything we've learned this week, this was not a secret and many top stars and power players had firsthand information.

Other parts of the unctuous layer of litigation in Hollywood and elsewhere are the non-disparagement agreements, confidentiality clauses and payoffs. More than a few people view an out-of-court settlement as case closed, justice served. I can imagine that's how a great many of the Hollywood elite see it and rationalise the issue, thus preserving this horrid status quo.

Hilarie Burton is speaking out about being groped by Ben Affleck during his appearance on TRL over a decade ago.

The 35-year-old former MTV VJ spoke out after Ben made a statement condemning Harvey Weinstein‘s alleged actions in his sexual assault and harassment scandal.

When one fan tweeted that Ben should have “kept quiet,” another fan wrote, “He also grabbed Hilarie Burton‘s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though.” The incident was reportedly during the actor’s appearance on the show in 2003.

Hilarie wrote back, “I didn’t forget.” The fan replied, “I’m so sorry that happened to you.”

“Seriously, thank you for that. I was a kid,” Hilarie responded. She also tweeted a clip from TRL in which she talked about being groped by Ben. She tweeted, “Girls. I’m so impressed with you brave ones. I had to laugh back then so I wouldn’t cry. Sending love.”

Reps for Ben did not immediately return requests for comment.

There was a BIG thing last year where the man who raped him was almost named. Everyone kept speculating who it was. But it never went anywhere.

I think someone pressured him not to talk.

You have to be a special kind of evil to cover for child molesters. It is bad enough people are willing to turn a blind eye or defender sexual predators that prey on adults.
