Decades of Sexual Harassment Accusations Against Harvey Weinstein

Not all countries give a **** about this sort of thing. Hell, in China, people walk by car accidents on the daily because they can't be bothered to help someone out.

People walk by car accidents in America too. People die on the streets in America and nobody gives two flips, so I don't quite see your point. More vitally, Weinstein's power comes from the people he knows primarily in Hollywood, I don't see him learning Mandarin and making a go in China

I actually don't believe you regarding that first part. At all.

He doesn't need to learn Mandarin.

The point is that he can make a movie abroad and if it's good enough to be well-received in North America, he's golden.

Roman Polanski is making movies abroad and he's wanted on child rape charges. So your point is that Weinstein somehow can't do the same thing?

Well that's ridiculous. Where's your source?

I think it depends on whether criminal charges are brought against him and how much deeper and further this scandal goes.

You honestly think people stop for every accident in America? Everyone helps their fellow citizen in American unlike the rest of the world, where they just drive by? How many homeless does the country have? How many die on the streets with no healthcare or safety because of the great benevolent republic? How many people walk by those same people every day and raise their noses at them? Or do you live in Dorothy's Kansas?

It's possible he could weasel his way into some small production company, anything's possible in this world, but I don't think it's probable. The world is changing for the better. Look at the Affleck video, it was played for laughs just a few years ago, now it's causing outrage

Yeah, I don't think the stuff with Polanski would play out the same today.

Exactly. The Pianist would not be made or opened today, yet, in 2003 or whatever, nobody gave two bits. I'd wager that's due to the (maybe one) positive of social media/news

The second this story incorporated some of the biggest stars in the world Weinstein was done. He'll never get high profile gig again. He may do films and people will show up to be them because there are lots of morally bankrupt folks but he lost his reputation and power forever

Burton said she was a kid

but she apparently was 21 in 2003, even if she means she was significantly younger the word "kid" makes it seem she's pushing the child molester angle, no?

I don't know, I'm getting the "Affleck was a disgusting pig who sexually assaulted me in full view of everyone and I was a young person with absolutely no power who had to go along with it in order to keep my job" kinda vibe.

It was in 2001.

:: gillian, the trl winner from 5.14.01 who won a trip to hawaii to interview the cast of pearl harbor filed a report. she showed us what she asked the cast which included ben affleck, josh harnett, james king, kate beckinsale.
:: hiliarie burton from pearl harbor, hawaii interviews the cast also on what they think about each other. she asked questions like "if ben and josh were in boybands, which boyband would they be in?"

Why would she have lost her job though?

Young powerless women in this situations almost always get pushed aside when they dare to raise a stink, especially when it involves a highly connected Hollywood star. Just recently Affleck got his slave-owning history removed from "Finding his Roots" because it clashed with his own self image. Ms. Burton would have found herself in the unemployment line if she didn't play along with Ben's sexual assault.

Regarding the first video that was a very *****ey thing to do but about the second....I don't think we are in the position to be outraged on behalf of the girl since she could have been into him for all we know.

I read somewhere that they had a thing at the time of the video, so whatever if that's the case.

Yeah, I don't think the stuff with Polanski would play out the same today.

One would hope, but it may depend on how much time passes by. Not as many people knew who Polanski was at the time the Pianist came out, or his past beyond Sharon Tate.

Now some folks across the pond want to strip Weinstein of his royal honor. I didn't even know you could do that. But then hey, Olympians have later been stripped of their medals.

A group of British politicians has called on the government to strip Harvey Weinstein of a royal honor bestowed on him for his contributions to the arts.

In an open letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, lawmakers from the opposition Labor Party said Weinstein should be stripped of his title as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The CBE is a prestigious award given out by Queen Elizabeth II upon the recommendation of the government of the day. Weinstein received his in 2004.

Though it sounds like it's merely a title.

With Kimmel in the spotlight a lot lately, I wouldn't be surprised if some conservative reporters started digging on him. He used to be on "The Man Show".

Yeah him and Adam Corolla did that show, it was ridiculously stupid and chauvinist even by 90s standards.

Kimmel just had his buddy Damon there and cracked jokes while only mentioning Weistein in the monologue

Oh, the Oscars next year are gonna be real interesting, if they weren't already just with the political climate.

Ben Affleck apologized to Hilarie Burton

I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize
