Since there is no section yet and there are no threads about it, I figure we can talk about it here until it gets a proper place.

Who do you guys want to see as the characters?
I'd like to see Aaron Paul as Daredevil, he's got the right intensity for it and hes an extremely talented actor. For Iron Fist, I'm not sure. I was thinking Charlie Hunnam. That could work. As for Luke Cage, as much as I like Michael Jai White and think he would make a great 70s Luke Cage, I think they should go with an unknown. And Jessica Jones, I don't know enough about her to make a decision.

I'm sure now that Netflix announced filming a series with many of those characters ,we will find out fairly soon. As far as who should be cast, I think unknowns would be better.

I'm not expecting ant information unti the San Diego Comic Con.

I think they are going to be unknowns as well, I'm just throwing names out there

I'm most curious as to how much money they are going to throw at these shows so we get a better idea of what the limitations are going to be.

I guess Heroes for Hire doesn't have the same ring to it but it really doesn't feel right to have this grouping called The Defenders. Plus how often has Daredevil been a team player?

what I think is going to happen, is that Luke Cage and Iron Fist will eventually just get their own show called "Heroes for Hire"

^ Good idea. Maybe after the Defenders mini, everyone goes their separate ways, but these two decide to stay together.

Daredevil I can see going on for a while. Lawyer by day, vigilante by night? Thats TV material right there. I don't know much about Jessica Jones so I can't say whether she has enough material for multiple seasons, but I do know that Luke Cage and Iron Fist would work great together in a show.

I agree with every part of your post (including not knowing much about JJ :) ). I hope DD lasts for multiple seasons, and H4H would be great as a duo.

Also, I hope the Punisher and Moon Knight make appearances in these shows. That would be awesome.

I think it's too much of a coincidence that we're Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones, considering their ties. Post-Defenders, I think we'll see a Heroes for Hire show, which would center around the above three characters, with Daredevil continuing on for a second season. This would open up two spots for two new shows... my picks would be Punisher and Moon Knight.

That's a good idea. Sign me up :)

throw in the sons of the tiger and the white tiger and we're off to the races

Yeah I'd been thinking about this...

With the Defenders being a miniseries "event" featuring characters from all four series, I can see Daredevil going back to his own solo adventures, but with Luke Cage you've got his missus Jessica Jones, his partner Iron fist, his missus Misty Knight and her partner Colleen Wing ... throw in Shang Chi and maybe White Tiger and you've got a great Heroes-For-Hire series there.

The first wave of series is going to go something like this I reckon...

Late 2015 - Daredevil
Early 2016 - Jessica Jones
Late 2016 - Iron Fist
Early 2017 - Luke Cage
2017 - Defenders

So I think the second wave might go something like this...

Late 2017 - Daredevil season 2
Early 2018 - ?
Late 2018 - Heroes For Hire
Early 2019 - ?
2019 - ?

:D

I suspect there will not be as much teaming-up as your saying. A major advantage of the format is that you don't need to build everything into giant ensembles, nor do you have to build shows with the intent of them lasting season after season. If you can only come up with one 13 ep story for Shang-Chi, than that is perfectly okay.

Hell, its entirely possible that Luke and Danny will team up as the Heroes for Hire, *and yet still have their own TV shows*. Each would be supporting cast in the other's show.

Are they actually going to call this series "The Defenders"? Won't that confuse viewers who will remember the legal TV series also called "The Defenders", both a series in the 1960s and its recent remake with Jim Belushi about 2-3 years ago?

While this series might supersede those ones, Marvel didn't call their current series "SHIELD", perhaps not to confuse it with the other cop series "The Shield", and in the UK they changed "The Avengers" to Avengers Assemble so as not to confuse it with the British 60s TV series also called "The Avengers."

The point is that viewers just scrolling through their channel guide might assume "The Defenders" is the Jim Belushi TV series being rerun and might not tune in.

Do people actually watch anything Jim Belushi is in?

Oh yeah, his crappy sitcom went 8 years too long.

But if they don't, they'll think "oh no, it's that Jim Belushi legal series" instead of a Marvel series and might not give it a chance.

Sure, Marvel will probably call it "Marvel's: The Defenders" but will it be billed as that on Netflix or just "The Defenders"?

I think that they will be called "Marvel's The Defenders."

Also, its going to be on Netflix, with a big picture of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones with it. I don't really think they have to worry about the lesser belushi

...Marvel should try and pick up Naya Rivera as Ava Ayala.. can't hurt, especially if they need her to sing..

I agree that unknowns would be a good idea for most of the roles, but they need at least ONE familiar face to carry the show. Like Coulson for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - he was the rock that held the viewerbase down in the early days of that show (because, as much as I like it now, I'll be the first to admit I thought the other characters were lame at the beginning).

I'm thinking Daredevil would be the perfect character to cast a well known and respected actor. It'll wipe away the memory of the old version of DD (hopefully) and will help ease people into the new set of characters since he's probably the most recognizable of the bunch for the GA. Luke, Jessica, and Iron Fist should definitely be unknowns though.

I wanted Aaron Paul as Daredevil but I don't know if he's got the right physique for it

^^^Yeah, unless you're looking for a midget DD.

Shouldn't this have its own subforum in the tv shows section and not Marvel movies?
