Denzel and Antoine Fuqua to ride with The Magnificent Seven

I leave the Equalizer or John Wick on all the time.

Right, Equalizer is the movie you leave on in the background, it's a watchable movie.

Good. Not interested in this being a carbon copy of that film.

Well the TV series wasn't either, but it did have Chris and Vin Tanner. The rest were mostly based on the classic characters but had different names, so it was a mix. I prefer that direction they took to being completely new.

I've actually never seen the show though I think I bought my dad the dvd a while back (back when dvd's were still a thing). Will have to check it out eventually.

It was a decent show. Unlike the original film, they all survive (which they would have to in order for there to be a series), and they have adventures every week defending a town or fighting bad guys etc. They were like a specialist team each with a particular set of skills. I liked it because it wasn't exactly the same as the original, but close enough with it having two of the classic characters, so it satisfied those who wanted some connection to the original and those who wanted something fresh.

And if they made this movie like that, I would like that.

Looks a little goofier and sillier than I was expecting, but what the hell. We're long overdue for straight-up FUN western. Since the western genre dried up (no pun intended), it feels like every western that comes out these days tries to be as slow and boring as possible. And most of the ones that HAVE attempted to be fun have turned out just awful (looking at you, Lone Ranger). I've been waiting a lot time for a return to westerns that are actually enjoyable.

Just found out the Saarsgard's character's name is Bartholomew Bogue. That is one badass moniker.

Looks good, haven't had a decent Western in a while hit the screens in a while so hopefully this is a good one.

Looks so so. It's just tiring to see a remake of a remake. At least the original had the sense to change the setting. I feel you could have done that here too and if need be, keep the title if we want the brand recognition. Using the same title perhaps in an urban setting would actually be pretty cool.

Teaser Trailer

Oh yes! Looks like a good time to me! :D I am glad it seems more of an action romp than trying to be deadly serious.

Nice! A brotha in the James "Britt" Coburn role! Now I can die happy.

Denzel is in the Yul Brynner role though.

Yeah, when this was first announced I thought they'd do a modern version set in Juárez with the 7 going up against a Cartel. I'm glad they went with a western though as we don't get enough movies in the genre these days for my liking.

I mean I'm all for westerns, even fun ones, but this looks like nothing new anyway, it being a remake aside. It looks so modern with not much attempt to make it more period. Pratt's doing the same old and Denzel isn't Lee Van Cleef with that facial hair.

If I had a nickel for every time they said, "From the director of Training Day." Gotta keep that one great film of his from fifteen years ago for people to remember.

LOL, the editing of this trailer was doing the most to try and make this look cool and modern. Like, heaven forbid they just show a nice wide vista shot of them horseriding across the plains without jumpcuts to the rock music. But it seems like the actual film is probably a pretty straight-forward Western at the end of the day, and I'm on board for it, as long as reviews aren't terrible.

Trailer looks badass and fun. Wasn't what I was expecting but I should have been prepared with Chris Pratt on board.

I'm in.

meh an urban setting would be as cool as cowboys or even samurais and they already did a space opera version of this

The international teaser...

I think all you jive-ass turkeys are misinterpreting my use of the word "brotha" in this context. :woot:

I just realized after watching the International teaser, the knife throwing member is an Asian man! I thought he'd been replaced with the Native American member of the team. :D
