Denzel and Antoine Fuqua to ride with The Magnificent Seven

Yeah it was suppose to be a surprise gift to Fuqua, AND Horner paid the orchestra team out of pocket.

Sadly, Fuqua will have to hire another composer if he wants to use Horners score since he only based it off on the screenplay. Meaning that another composer/sound design person may have to re-edit some part, or rearrange the composition depending on how Fuqua shot the movie. Or may only USE some of Horners tracks, if the rest doesn't fit the tone of the movie.

They could always do a special edition Soundtrack with a disc dedicated to Horner's original writings.

Well when you're cast as Aquaman, going from that to a grunting henchmen would be a step backwards in your career too. Momoa as Aquaman is a whole other debate though. If he feels like he wants to put these types of roles behind him, then this is his one huge chance to do so. Even though I'm skeptical of the casting, I hope he is able to really shatter any preconceived expectations we might have.

Well I suppose Aquaman is more of a charismatic swashbuckler character, and Momoa does seem to be able to chew scenery for such a big guy.

Nic Pizzolatto wrote one of the drafts to this script. If it's the shooting script, hopefully it hasn't been compromised by wrong director and studio decisions but there's a basis there for something great.

I've been watching the Equalizer almost once a month on cable. Love that movie. I'm really excited for this one especially since Cruise is no longer attached.

Before you roll your eyes at another remake, consider the cast. Denzel Washington (Training Day, American Gangster), Ethan Hawke (Training Day, The Purge), Chris Pratt (Guardians Of The Galaxy, Jurassic World), Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil, Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Matt Bomer (White Collar, Magic Mike XXL), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead, Green Lantern), Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Arrow), and Byung-hun Lee (RED 2, G. I. Joe: Retaliation). This is probably the most accomplished cast to be put together for a film in years, even with relative newcomers to Hollywood like Lee and Cam Gigandet.

The poster is pretty badass, but I wish it was in better resolution so I can see the actors better.

Ethan Hawke is... Goodnight Robideaux. Best character name of 2016 by far.

They better use this: :cmad:

Will the new film be using Elmer Bernstein's original theme or at least a rendition of it?

Vinnie D. rocking that full on hillbilly beard! :awesome: Besides Civil War and The Nice Guys, this is the 2016 movie I am looking forward to the most.

Part of me wishes that it wasn't a western and was set in modern day.

But I love the cast, the director, and the pics look good so I'm aboard this

This movie has been remade so many times in different settings, what you want is not out of the question in the near future. The only hard part is world-building a scenario where just seven guys are the only force of justice in a given setting (i.e. limited telecommunications, no air support, no chain of command, no major tactical weapons, etc.).

Yeah, like they just keep constantly remaking Seven Samurai but in a different setting. Remember back when it was rumored they were going to do a Star Wars version of it?

YEah didn't they do a sci fi version? I forget the name.

But for a modern setting I was thinking in modern Mexico or Brazil vs the cartel. So many parts of that country are so lawless that even if they call the authorities, the authorities would steal from them too. Make the 7 drifters and mercenaries and I think that could've worked in a moder

That sounds like a good movie, but the only problem with the modern setting is the level of destructive technology at our disposal now will raise the obvious question as to why the well-funded cartel doesn't just RPG the living hell out of the place the heroes are protecting. You'd have to write a storyline reason that prevents either side from using more destructive methods to achieve their goals.

And the space version is Battle Beyond The Stars. Quite enjoyable for what it is.

Or you can watch the anime Samurai 7 which is really good.
