So it sounds like this is horrible. Reviews are not good at all. The last few trailers I've seen haven't looked good at all. And its rated R? When did that happen? lol

Depp does seem kind of out of it lately. I wouldn't leap to any conclusions that he has a ''problem'', but he's definitely less grounded without Vanessa Paradis.

Perhaps he's run into a bit of a midlife crisis.

Why wouldn't they? Just cause Chris Hensworth's Blackhat bombed, Disney wouldn't replace him as Thor all of a sudden. People choose not to see Depp's films on Depp's name alone. But they love his Jack Sparrow, the reason the Pirates films are even at a fifth film.

Let's not forget, in the 90s he was known as box office poison.

That's entirely different. Although that franchise is running out of steam people will still pay to see Jack Sparrow. It seems like all he has going for him at this point. I think Depp should stop trying to create a new franchise characters and go back to the basics. He is a good actor , but he's pushing it with the weird characters.

People love Jack Sparrow, so I'm sure the 5th pirates movie will do great. The last one made over a billion dollars.

Worldwide it will do great. Domestically, I don't think it'll do much better than the last, in which each sequel has made less than the other. I just think overall interest has feigned for the Pirates franchise and by 2017, it won't be helped.

Also, 'Hotel' would've made him play a character closer to his age, which would be a first for the (current) him.

Even though he looks GOOD for his age, he FEELS like an older guy now. Like in Transendence, he looks like a dude who's like 35, but his mannerisms and body language feels like more middle aged.

Funnily enough, i have yet to watch Grand Budapest Hotel, but have unfortunately watched Mortdecai twice (once alone, and another with a group of friends who wanted to watch it).

I do wonder how it got this bad, the Director had a relatively strong filmography and this was supposedly one of Johny Depp's passion projects, why he thought it would be smart business to pass on a Wes Anderson film and do this instead is still beyond me.

I think they were trying to aim for a Peter Sellers type of film, harkening back to the 60's. Where the tone is whimsical, silly, and yet there's a lot of sex jokes, making it clear that it's not meant for kids.

However, many of the sex romps that Peter did kinda sucked. We only remember the ones that were good, but they were plenty back then and Mortdecai aimed for the lesser.
