I have Windows XP, for starters, and only know the basics about computers, so bare with me.

I go onto my computer today and I find that the wallpaper says, paraphrased, "WE HAVE DETECTED SPYWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM, REMOVE..."

I did as instructed, and restarted my system. Now, that's gone, but I can't set my wallpaper back to the way it was. The option to do so under properties is not there.

Any help is appreciated.

You got tricked by a virus/spyware in itself. Your wallpaper would never tell you that you have a virus. More than likely you got highjacked. Try running, Spybot S&D, SpySweeper (pay), SuperAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware and any of the virus scans, like Norton, McAfee, AVG, Avast. You may also want to get a program called hijackthis run it and post the results on here or on another tech board that can go over it and see where the culprit is.

Ah ****. Thanks for the help.

Though I should mention that as soon as I ran the virus scan and all that, the "warning" on the wallpaper disappeared, and I was left with just a blank wallpaper.

Thanks again, though.
