Maybe
HULK #10 $3.99 - I've been reading this but the price jump is probably going to make me jump ship.

Marvel's trying to make a buck on these prices, maybe due to the economy, but they're bleeding me dry and I'm going to have to start giving up titles. It's really ticking me off. It doesn't help that I've started reading some DC and other stuff alongside them either.

Besides my annoyance at price, there's a lot of stuff here I AM looking forward to. Nova always gets me excited, and I'm curious about Thunderbolts. X-Force has been fantastic thus far. I've been liking Marvels 2 but with all these price hikes I'm kinda eager for it to end so it's one less book at $4. I'm buying less mini's now to make room for the stupid price hikes, but I couldn't pass up the sequal to one of my favorate Marvel stories as a kid. New Avengers would have me excited if not for the price. And I'm kinda indifferant for Mighty. I'm giving the first arc a shot and we'll see what happens from there. And I'll always love Initiative, though I'm praying for a broken finger on Ramos' part so he can stop drawing the book. Hopefully it's just not announced yet :)

Just give it up, man. People are genuinely enjoying that rag, so its sales aren't going down anytime soon. It's unfathomable to me, but then again, people enjoy reality TV too. :o

Please drop it. PLEASE! The more people drop it, the sooner Jeff Loeb stops writing it.

I'm not a Hulk fan, so if I read it as a kind of out of continuity story I find myself enjoying it. I stopped once, then on a light week picked up a few issues and found myself entertained again. I thought about continuing but chances are I won't. At least, it'll be one of those books that I don't buy regularly. I'll probably get behind again and then catch up on a slow week, until I get too far behind and just give up and sell what I have on ebay. I'm guessing that's how it'll go. I can't afford to catch up on $4 an issue.

I can't understand the appeal of it. I like dumb fun and all, but come on, Hulk is like the short bus of comics.

Seriously. I sat through over 45 issues of NEW AVENGERS, and over a 100 of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, but not ONE of HULK. :p

I think I'm going to buy every single one of those Kick-Ass reprints...twice!

Is it wrong to want to find Mark Millar and, you know, beat the **** out of him?

Not anymore so than wanting to do the same to Bendis or Joe Q.

Do yourself a favor and buy some good Hulk stories instead. Like Planet Hulk or Future Imperfect or any of the Hulk Visionaries: Peter David trades.

Should I be reading Trinity?

It's a decent pan-DCU story, but a lot of people have lost patience with it because it features so little of the titular characters. I argue that it makes sense for the trinity to be taken out of play because you can only gain a real appreciation for their effect on the DCU by seeing it when they're absent, but others disagree. It's one of those series where you really just have to decide for yourself--opinions of it don't swing overwhelmingly to either side.

You say the actual Trinity's not the focus of the book. So which characters are?

I plan on reading Planet Hulk someday, and I've read and loved Future Imperfect. I also read and liked the arc with Apocalypse and Juggernaut (as an X-Fan it was obligatory). To me, Hulk is like Iron Man, Cap, and Thor. I love them in guest appearances and supporting roles, but never as a solo effert. I get bored very quickly. I've tried all their titles time and again, start out interested, then get bored and bail out no more than eight issues later. Various arcs or oneshots could be okay, but their ongoings typically don't do it for me. This will probably just be another Hulk phase. I loved the first 4 or so issues but then I started getting bored. Then Sentry pulled me back in because I love the Sentry and I'm kinda interested again (though I know Sentry was only a guest star) but I'm sure I'll get bored again. $4 an issue will surely help that along.

I've let a few issues build up without reading them, but based on my last issue (I think it was from last month), Hawkman, the two villains, Gangbuster, and a group consisting of Alfred Pennyworth, Lois Lane, Dick Grayson, Supergirl, Donna Troy, and Nemesis were taking most of the spotlight. A few other characters had bits devoted to them as well, but those were the characters in the main two plotlines running parallel to each other through the issues.

That's not the GL arc, it's DC's latest linewide monthly event, "Origins and Omens", where there are a bunch of backup stories featuring retellings of character origins and hints of future stories/stuff about "Blackest Night".

Captain america #47 $2.99
thunderbolts #129 dkr $2.99
