Diamond List for July 4, 2007

Exactly. And now he draws everyone in liquid claymation on acid trips. What happened!?

I don't think he's bad. I think he's still extremely talented. The style he's evolved into, though is not one of my favorites. I still like it, but not as much as his early GenX work.

You're not serious.

You're not allowed to say anything about tastes in art, because it's well known that you have none. :o

It's PJ. You know he totally is.

Look. I'll level with you. I have to like Bachalo. His GenX work was my childhood. I felt like the coolest nerd in school for reading that book. For nostalgia's sake, I have to convince myself that he's still putting out good work.

Well, I can understand that. Sometimes I look at Jurgens' art and I'm like, "Why did I like this?" Then I remember that Jurgens basically was Superman to me in my childhood.

You liked Dan Jurgens' art as a child, see I Can understand that, you were young and naive.

Yeah, Jurgens got me to pick up Sensational Spider-Man when he started the book in the 90's. I still like him alright.

I love his layouts and stuff. The overall aesthetic of his art is just so scratchy and sometimes kind of sloppy now, though. I try to remember the good times. :(

Yeah...his new Booster Gold work looks pretty good, though.

Yeah, that restored some of my faith. I think he just doesn't devote as much time to art these days. He's been mostly writing lately.

Damn. I hate feeling nostalgic. My girlfriend hates it more, since I come home and dig out old books, ignoring her completely.
