Considering:
ANNIHILATION SAGA - which is far better priced than RUNAWAYS SAGA was, although since I got the core mini and the NOVA CORPS FILES, I wonder if I really need this.

I know that COUNTDOWN is supposed to be counting backwards from #52 as a gimmick, but I wonder if this will confuse the casual fan and this lead to low sales. DC hasn't exactly been lighting the sales charts ablaze in 2007. Marvel's been beating them with ease. 2006 saw DC's best punches and it remains to be seen if DiDio has anything left. Joe Q has become something akin to Inspector Gadget; he is completely inept, but through virtue of allies and luck, always prevails in the end.

Besides, I felt it was an even jab at DC too. Marvel does things and reaps rewards, and when DC attempts them, they seem to get something off and don't get as high sales. I mean, Marvel can off characters, alienate longtime readers and stew controveresy, and they make a mint at it. DC tries the same and it doesn't take. So, maybe someone who reads both can clue me in, why? Does Marvel really have youth on their side here? Politics? More direct market confidence?

While I am not a DC fan, a DC that Marvel outsells too easily is useless as competition, and then Marvel just goes on autopilot with little innovation. But when there is vigorous competition, then we might get some innovation.
