what if the events in that movie happened in real life. Do you all think the situation would have been handled the same as far as the Armed Forces trying to eliminate the threat of an invasion like that.

there's a sense of realism to this movie with the invaders disabling communication etc to slow the armed forces down, so yeah, but as far as riding a bike through one of the alien's legs then shoot it in the crotch as you skid through them, no.

it's a Michael Bay movie....i tried not to think too much. if you think too much it falls apart....if you just go with the flow then the ride is much more satisfying.

Exactly. Bay's films have plots thin enough to keep the film together but scrutinizing them will make the film fall apart. Its best not to over think the story.

They weren't in the city to begin with, they were in the open-air desert, where they would have a more even melee. You could at least see where the bad guys were coming from.

How about, if I wanted a story I'd watch a good movie? This movie was neither fantasy "Men in Black" or real. It's a movie that demands you turn off your brain in ways not even the cartoon did. That's not a good movie in my book.

How about, if I wanted a story I'd watch a good movie? This movie was neither fantasy "Men in Black" or real. It's a movie that demands you turn off your brain in ways not even the cartoon did. That's not a good movie in my book.

Yep, there are movies that have plenty of action and great stories, one that comes to mind is Saving Private Ryan....that's what I call a masterpiece!

Other people have already brought up this point in the past, they could have stopped them all and foughten in the valley/freeway. I really enjoyed the film and I have common sense...meaning I knew going into it what type of movie it was going to be like. That's what I find funny is all the people who went in thinking it was going to be high art or thought provoking. On that note, although I let that slide the whole point of having them make it to the city was just to up the cool factor.

Much like the cartoon. When I was a kid I loved the cartoon for the same reasons I love the movie now.

I think there was a nice mix between realism and fantasy...Some of it really seemed real, like the beginning and the attacks in the Middle East and such. There seemed to be a lot of time spent with real military officers to get the right feel.
