I need help with this one, fellas. i was painting out in the garden when I was thinking about the awesome new cut of donner's movie coming out soon and then It struck me like lighting... Hey remember how zod was defeated because he was caught unaware that his powers were drained? Well I guess singer used the same idea when lex punched supes. It's the same thing except what confused me is that Supes can usually feel when kryptonite is near but he doesn't in the movie. that was weird. But now I think I can concoct an explanation for myself that'll make it make more sense.

It's simple really. Lex used one of the crystals to imbed the krypto rock with red sun radiation.

Simple. So what do you think of that explanation of the scene? :yay:

Ummm are there mushrooms growing in that garden by chance?

Depending on which continuity you wish to pursue, green kryptonite, which is the only version that has been used in any film, causes instant debilitating pain and weakness to Superman. In a Silver Age variation, which this film is more closer to than any, it would take very little of it to cause this reaction and an entire continent which is propagating by the second should have caused a reaction prior to his landing on NK. Don’t get me started about being shived and a piece broken off in his back!

Yes. But why do you want to know about my mushrooms?

Personally I've put much thought on the subject myself and as you see the best I can conclude is that some red sun beams were added to the mix to make the big island. It's not said in the film, but oh who cares, let's just figure it out for ourselves... the film-makers made a really pretty movie so lets fill in the gaps. We're fanboys. it's our job.

I've generally accepted kryptonite as a substance that cause superman and superman alone extreme physical pain and weakness so he can barely swim in that pool in STM as we saw. Now of course this has been changed. I wish we were given some warning beforehand, but alas here we are months later so let's move to the next chapter. The effects of kryptonite seem to mimick the effects of red sun beams now. Therefore I conclude that they are red sun beams and not kryptontite that cause superman to become ordinary enough to be punched by lex. This is not explained in the film but it's the best I have to make all that we saw occur make sense to me personally. I like things to be sensible in these high class motion pictures, you see... ha ha.

singers version of kryptonite basicly removes his powers i think but in the movie his force of willl managed to carry him through the task of hurtiling new krypton into space

If that were true no amount of will could give superman enough strength to lift something that big.Maybe if it were small and he had to throw it away he could sum up enough strength and grab it quickly and chuck it into a lake but we're being asked to accept that he can lift a big billion ton chunk, that's a bit much...

Therefore we must conclude that kryptonite has no effect on superman in the movie. It was red sun beams from thekrystal rock that cause him to lose his power similar to the way it caused Zod to lose his.

And who's erasing my threads? What was wrong with them? tell me so I can know not to make similar errors.

:cwink: those mushrooms have really kicked in havent they wesyeed....

Ive been spending a lot of hours working on my special edition edit of Street Fighter the Movie so I have no time to eat mushrooms, nogster.

Hey, he could be onto something here....I mean, Superman DID use his "Ignore-the-Effects-of-Kryptonite" power when he lifted that lame land-mass into space with a piece INSIDE him. So ANYTHING is possible in this film.
