Die Hard 6

I would like the final Die Hard to feature the whole family, trying to put their differences aside, on vacation in a foreign country.

As it is with McClane luck, the family finds themselves in the middle of terrorists plotting WWIII. The family has to put their differences aside to stop this latest threat to the world in...They Die Hard.

I really wish they would go back to the one setting for John McClane like the Nakatomi Building and Dulles Airport. Watching John having to adapt to everything around him was fun to watch.

Year One sounds more interesting to me than Live Free or A Good Day, to be honest. It sounds like they're actually trying something different and being creative. And it actually has source material too (the comics), so at least they have a blueprint to draw from and they're not making up some random terrorist plot for the dozenth time.

Why is it creative though? It's an origin story prequel.

Also it has been low key enough that the events in 1979 cannot contridict what was set up in the first Die Hard. Meaning the scale has to be super small because in 1988, that's when McClane was first introduce to something of that scale.

We both know that probably won't happen. This is the same director who made McClane hang onto the wing of a jet.

This prequel is going to be awful because they can't do anything of scale in it. They can't top Die Hard because Die Hard is the defining moment of John McClane becoming the man he is. Before that he was just an average cop with no particular fame or noterity. He was a nobody.

What can they do? Have him stop an armored car heist? They can't make it too epic or exciting because it reduces the heroism of Nakatomi Plaza.

They seem to be dragging this series into the ground like "The Terminator" franchise.

Bruce Willis has said that his role will be more than a cameo.

He will be more present than that. This character of course is modern day and the origin story if you can call it that has ramifications on present day McClane. What it’s not is it’s not a cameo bookend scenario. It’s a prequel/sequel hybrid that I really haven’t seen before and is incredibly different.

I assume that the story is modern day John remembering one of his earlier cases to help him stop some bad guy in the present. Or that the events in the modern day story will cause John to think about events in his past and the film will periodically cut to the past and show us things that happened in 1979. So the modern day stuff will probably have the usual larger than life Die Hard style shenanigans.

Yes that's what i think it will be. Maybe Forrest Gump style. :funny:

Just name it Old Habits Die Hard and be done. That is literally all I want.

Yeah this bums me out.

Just...who wants to see someone else play McLane even if Willis is still in it.

I forget what movie the poster was taking about (I think Terminator Genysis) but the poster brought up that it's sad that you have movies like Creed or Force Awakens released last year that are made by newer filmmakers that appreciate and respect the movies that came before it. But then you have nonsense like T:G or this.

A Die Hard movie is not that hard. Listen to everybody man. I havent seen one person think this is a good idea

Maybe they should call this movie "Die Hard 6: Just Die Already"

It definitely sounds like they are sinking to Terminator Genisys depths here.

they should scrap the prequel aspect and get Danny DeVito as John McClane.

As opposed to surfing on top of a truck in an underground reservoir tunnel during a man-made grenade tsunami? Or fist fighting a mercenary on the wing of a commercial plane and blowing it up using a trail of gasoline in the snow?

All that was post-Die Hard though, which is fine. Doctor Jones' comment was highlighting the unlikeness of anything pre-Die Hard being a low-key affair (which it should be) due to the director setting a precedent for going over the top.

I thought the plane scene was badass. Did not mind at all.

Still this is a stupid idea

I thought PG 13 Die Hard was awful but inexplicably people liked that film.

Never saw the PG13 version only seen the R rated cut, but I imagine it being worse

Hell, I didn't mind it either. In fact, I quite liked the fourth film for what it was. Better than ****ing Die Hard 2.
