Director of the Decade

:csad:

Aside from the Bat-films (which makes it obvious from what website we're on), I never got the love for Nolan's movies.

Memento and Insomia are amazing imo. I stayed up the whole night, when I watched Insomia...so it created a whole 'nother experience.

I agree. I love Nolan non-Batman films a bit more then I like his Batman films actually. I think he's an amazing director.

Haven't seen them and I've not heard anything that would make me want to.

Not really. I probably wouldn't like them anyway, I'm pretty in tune with my likes and dislikes.

So you haven't really watched Nolan's non-Batman films but you don't get why people love them. You don't have to see them because you already know you won't like them.

I gotcha.

That's pretty much it. Do you understand why people like all of the things you don't?

but what is stopping you from seeing them?

We live in a netflix world. I too try to watch as many movies when I can..classic..action..foreign. If I don't like a certain classic or bad movie, at least I can say that I saw it.

I usually don't like things after I have experienced them. I can't think of anything I dislike that I haven't experienced, and if there was a situation where this was so I don't think I would be confused as to why other people would like it.

Nothing physically, but I'm not going to spend the time looking for and watching stuff that I know that I won't like when I could be doing other things that I do enjoy.

So you've tried everything? There's nothing that turns you off completely on it when you hear about it?

I gotta go with Nolan. Every film he's made is good or better, and he's made them all within the last ten years. There are few directors you can name that have produced that many quality works in such a relatively small period of time.

Just behind him would be Clint Eastwood and Peter Jackson. Jackson I think should be mentioned for LOTR alone.

I'm usually apathetic to the stuff I'm not familiar with. I certainly don't get confused if other people happen to like the stuff I am not familiar with.

Well, I was essentially describing my apathy towards Nolan's non-Batwork.

I also dislike the direction Batman has gone in, although that has nothing to do with Nolan or his influence.

Say what you want about Death Proof, but I think Quentin Tarantino deserves at least a mention for Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds.
Even though he'll probably never make a film with as much of an impact as Pulp Fiction, Tarantino has continued be one of the boldest and most original directors in this decade.

The Coens made No Country For Old Men, which would likely get my vote for best film of the decade, and their other ones were at least good, if not better.

The only Scorsese film I've seen from this decade is The Departed, but I'm hard pressed to think that Scorsese isn't one of the best directors in every decade since the 70s.

I ended up mentioning my three most enjoyed directors.

^ to claim that the present condition of the bat franchise has nothing to do with Nolan is the most rediculous comment I've ever read on the hype, and being the hype, it is filled with with rediculous comments.

I mean the Nolans WROTE TDK. Most of the strong points of story telling and such are staples of Nolans work. How can you say you like the two movies of his that you have seen but then automatically assume that you will hate the rest of his work? I'm just asking because really that is against all logic. But yes this thread has been Hijacked.

Nolan is a damn good director. Considering the 2000's only have a few good films in a 10 year span ....5 of them being Nolans, he's good.

Never said that I liked Nolan's Batfilms, but the present condition of the character of Batman, being dark, brooding, and one-dimensional, doesn't have anything to do with Nolan's influence, as he simply worked with what's popular with the character right now.

:awesome:

I gotta go with Uwe Boll. Yes, before you ban me, hear me out! His name is out there (for better or worse) and he is a unstoppable machine. Cranking out films via directing and/or producing. :awesome: incredible.
