First and foremost american beauty was 1999.

it really shouldnt be on the poll.

and where is unbreakable? for a superhero site its kinda silly its not on this poll.

and i agree that gladiator was overrated. beautifully shot and pheonix gave a great performance but the film itself never gets past good imo. same with cast away. good with a great hanks performance but ultimately not one of the best that year.

also there are some pretty damn good movies not on this list that should be there in place of some of these others.

filth and the fury (great sex pistols doc)
sexy beast
shadow of the vampire
unbreakable
the mexican (i loved it so sue me)

i think i gotta go with requiem for a dream, dancer in the dark, memento, or high fidelity (comedy gets no love...)

traffic, almost famous, pollock, crouching tiger, the mexican, xmen, and wonderboys were greatness too.

loved bale in american psycho. maybe the best performance that year but the movie is too toothless compared to the novel for me to love it.

2000 was a pretty good year for movies...

Completely forgot about Dancer in the Dark.

That movie probably won't get much love 'round these parts, unfortunately.

i dont really want to complain because i know this was a lot of work to undertake.

but incomplete and leaving off some of the best reviewed movies of the year (but wasting space with battlefield earth, the whole nine yards and the grinch) and are two different things.

and given how many voted for american beauty (which came out in the wrong year) i would say this poll is pretty faulted.

maybe next time allow a few days for nominations and/or corrections?

Out of those I enjoyed X-Men the most. The best of the series imo. I really liked the story of how they got together and building the characters' stories. Wolverine was portrayed very well as the loner/Punisher type of a character

I didn't find this until too late, but my vote would have been for Gladiator. Not only did it revive the historical epic genre, it is the film that convinced me to convert from VHS to DVD. One of my truly favourite movies.
