Directors we need to see less of

but i still dont think Scoresese should be even mentioned here, even if some one doesn't like him.

For me, I still like Spielberg even though I didn't like 'Crystal Skull'. I will never put him here. Lucas on the other hand ...:p
If I didn't like Spielbergs 80s movies I would put him on here. I haven't sat down and enjoyed a movie he's directed for 13 years. I really, really hope, Tin Tin will make up for all those years.

but Scorsese's worst is still watchable, unlike Burton or Romero.

Another fave director of mine that I'm sad made it to this list but I entirely agree with is George Romero.:csad:

Same here for the most part. If he didn't go overboard with all these recent zombie films I wouldn't put him in this category. It sucks because for so many years fans were wanting a 4th zombie film and after he finally makes it...he makes 2-3 more. That is overkill in my eyes.

I actually liked Bruiser for the most part and wish he would start making some non zombie movies again.

It would be cool to see what he could do with non zombie movies again, but I doubt he can get funding. People want him for the zombies sadly. Sucks when directors get backed into a corner creatively because of money.

Wrong.

I'd watch Burton's Planet of the Apes over all recent Scorsese films.

you're alone on that one but okay, i'm not gonna any more about this. I still think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is worst than Planet though.

I don't mind him having a "____ of the Dead" franchise, it's just the recent ones are lower quality. I mean, I enjoyed Land and Diary, but recognize them as inferior, but Survival literally felt like someone bastardizing the Romero movies, and then learning it was actually Romero himself...:csad:

Bruiser?

Bruiser?

Bruiser was one of his more recent films before Land of the Dead. Not superb but i liked it quite a bit.

I also enjoyed Land of the Dead for the most part but think it would have been better if he had made it in the 90's. Diary i didn't care for and i'm not sure if I want to see Survival. I think he's lost his touch like a lot of other creators/artists when they get pretty old.

Land and Diary felt like 'direct to Video' stuff. Honestly, if Romero didn't have his name in there, I would probably thought those movies were from the bargain bin at Blockbuster.

I'll have to check that out.

True, but they felt more like the quality of the Return of the Living Dead movies to me, just with Romero zombie rules.

I'm still having trouble comprehending the fact that Scorsese is even mentioned in this thread. I understand you may not like his films, but for him to make less or stop? Does not compute.

I can say the same thing about Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, the Wachowski Brothers, Richard Kelly, Stephen Sommers, Wes Craven, Quentin Tarantino, Garry Marshall, and Chris Columbus, but instead of harping on them, I can understand if someone is kind of let down by them.

Don't see why it's so hard to grasp that Scorsese isn't some directorial god.

That's not what I'm having trouble grasping. I'm just surprised he's being lumped into a group of people such as Boll, Bay, McG, Ratner, etc. In all honesty, I don't wish for any director to stop making movies or make less of. They're doing what they love and I can appreciate that from anyone. But it's fun to think about.

Wrong.

I'd watch Burton's Planet of the Apes over all recent Scorsese films.

You gotta be ****ing kidding me.

Here, let me put them in a list to show you what you're missing.

The Aviator
Gangs of New York
The Departed
Shutter Island

You'd rather watch Planet of the Apes over those?:huh:

Seen them all, I'd prefer Planet of the Apes.
All those movies are pretty boring sans some actors(Cate Blanchett, Jude Law, DDL, Cameron Diaz, Vera Farmiga, Jackie Earle Haley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kingsley)

None of those movies entertain me, they make me feel like I wasted hours of my life watching them.

I think we can all do with a little less Stephen Sommers. "A little less"... who am I kidding? A LOT less.

I have yet to enjoy a film he's been involved in. I dont care for The Mummy series at all.

Again, that's his earlier work, which I liked.
Shutter Island was such a chore for me to watch. The only good acting from Jackie Earle Haley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kingsley. A lame, unoriginal, predictable story and less than stellar visuals.

The way some people feel about Burton around here is how I feel about Scorsese.

So true, I was thinking the same thing watching the trailer for his new "Dead" movie.

The man lost it. :csad:

I'm sorry but you're insane, and that's coming from someone that's actually a fan of Burton's Planet of the Apes.
