Directors we need to see less of

Really, Craven? To me Craven never had it to begin with.
Craven's had as many as if not more than Romero critically acclaimed horror flicks. Romero had 3 good zombie films. That's about it, before he started to go down hill.

Obviously Craven had to begin with.

Later Craven rocked too. Not a horror film but Red Eye was good, as well as the Scream trilogy. In fact, the only thing that bugs me about him is the fact he oversaw the remakes of his films (save Nightmare) and somehow they still turned out terrible.

Until he learns that three actors in front of a green screen does not a movie make, GEORGE LUCAS.

Michael Bay
Brett Ratner
Uwe Boll
McG
Paul W.S. Anderson
Wachowski "Brothers"
The only film of his I ever liked was Event Horizon. If he made more movies like that I wouldn't complain.
Clint Eastwood.

Not that he can't be quality, I just think he fires out too many movies, wish he'd take his time.
Clint Eastwood is old he ain't got time :(

Ridley Scott is just a prolific he almost produces a movie a year.

Obvious choices:

Paul W.S. Anderson, I liked Event Horizon and Death Race, but both films come off as flukes to me. The rest of his output is horrendous.

McG, great snake oil salesman, terrible director. Has a great eye, but it's not connected to his brain. Also PGing Terminator was a really dickless thing to do. With Anderson, at least the likes of Jason Isaacs, Sean Pertwee, Laurence Fishbourne, Sam Neill, Jason Statham and Ian McShane, held up the acting front pretty well in his good films, but McG somehow managed to make Christian Bale embarass himself, and I think he is genuinely a far better actor than those other guys.

Not so obvious:

James Cameron. Again excellent visualist, no brains. He was on autopilot during Avatar. Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies... none of those could be considered truly original films, but it was his spin on those stories and his interest in the character interactions and relationships that made for some legitimate masterpeices. Now he's making tech demos.

Mark Steven Johnson. After screwing up both DD and GR, I don't think he should be given another opportunity for C2M.

you think the studio wanted a R rated terminator movie but MCG convinced them for PG13?

every director wants to make R movies. but if the public will not spend 1 billion on an R rated summer movie then they will not make them. end of story.

I'm going to get flogged for this.

But I really believe Quentin Tarantino needs to take a really long break. I haven't liked anything he's done in a while.

you didn't even liked Inglourious Basterds, which I thought was his comeback film. The movie needed to be pulled back a little in certain scenes, but it was great.

Tyler Perry

Agreed! WTF was he doing in Star Trek anyways? He must be friends with JJ Abrams.

BS on Romero only having 3 good films. Craven had Last House on the Left(which was the movie that got him started), the original NoES and I guess the first Scream(even though it was one big cliche and I still to this day do not believe it was a parody of slasher flicks since parodys are supposed to be more comedic).

While Romero has made some duds just like Craven, the three zombie films he made are not the only good films he has under his belt. The original Crazies was good unless you don't like older films from the 70's and before. It was a pretty creepy film with some actual thought provoking themes, which I wouldn't be surprised if the remake dropped. Another one you should check out is Martin. Much like Let the Right One In, Martin puts a somewhat different spin on Vampirism. Aside from his Zombie trilogy, Martin is my favorite film of his.

Uwo Boll is a director who needs to stop.

people complain about Craven and he hasn't made a movie in a looong time. Scream 4 will be probably his next film to make but yeah..long gaps.

yeah yeah. Well, I thought Inglorious was painfully boring. :/

:waa:

Haha, I'm just messing. Obviously I strongly disagree. The man is a brilliant writer/director and hasn't lost a beat in my opinion. Yes, I loved Death Proof.

Wachowski Brothers, really? I agree with that whole list but them. I think Speed Racer was awesome and really before that it was Revolutions which while bad was not unbearable.

I would say that everyone naming Bay would be right but who then will i get my huge explosion fix from? I also agree on the Burton comment, Alice and Wonderland showed me that really all his movie are the same visual style.

Hey brother!! :P I thought I was the only person on here that liked Speed Racer. I agree with you about the Wachowski's.

Speed Racer was so much fun. Love it.
