Directors we need to see less of

Zemeckis but only if he keeps doing these CG films.

Judd Atapow
How the hell did Funny People cost $75 million!?

Well he's only made one bad movie. I don't think he deserves to be in this thread. At least not yet.

Aaron Seltzer & Jason Friedberg.

Ron Howard. The best thing I can say about him as a director is that he's competent. Which is to say he gets the job done. But he has absolutely no sense of flair or style and brings nothing to the table in any of his movies. To me, it seems that for Ron making movies is just a job and he has no real joy or passion for it.

Tim Burton. I've been a Burton fan for as long as I can remember. And I wouldn't mind seeing him make more movies if he could just get rid of that neo-victorian/German expressionism fetish he's got going on. I understand that's just how he rolls, but he should either take a long break or try a different aesthetic.

Tim Burton.

Shawn Levy, Tyler Perry, McG, Bay, Ratner, etc.

Dominic Sena- I remember seeing the opening to Swordfish on tv(you know the scene I'm talking about) and so I sat down to watch the rest, and it was like whoever shot that was replaced during shooting. His other movies don't see to have a scene as cool as that opening, but all of them are just as boring, and/or as bad as the rest of Swordfish.

Simon West- I don't think I've ever been so bored watching an action film then when I watched, Tomb Raider. Con Air was nearly as boring. I've liked what he's done on Human Target and I think he should stick with tv work. As it seems he can hold 44mins better than 90.

Chris Columbus- What happened to you man. I enjoyed Harry Potter as a kid, and Home Alone and Miss Doubtfire is a really treat. Did we lose you to the 90's?

Because there is a thread for those that should make more.

I'd say Richard Kelly. After three movies, I'm still, unimpressed. The Box started out as a good remake of a Twilight Zone episode and then once it passes the 40 min mark, I just lost interest.

I think people would dislike Richard Kelly less if Southland Tales was just bad, instead of being one of the most self-indulgent, convoluted and boring movies in years. I really think that's the movie that brought him to the doorstep of director jail. The Box just pushed him in.

you think the studio wanted a R rated terminator movie but MCG convinced them for PG13?

every director wants to make R movies. but if the public will not spend 1 billion on an R rated summer movie then they will not make them. end of story.

Well don't make a $200 million dollar CG fest with transformers that shoot motorbikes and have Predator cannons then. Look what Neil Blomkamp did with 30 million, someone less crafty than him could've done a real Terminator future war movie for 100 million. The guy was a dickless studio crony, simple as that.

Con Air is boring

Blasphemy!

I'm pretty sick of Scorsese, Tyler erry and Judd Apatow

I don't like Scorsese either. While he is a very interesting guy, and I can listen to him talk about movies for hours, I can't stand his movies. I keep getting very, very bored during those, but I place blame on me not likeing his movies, based on the fact that I hate Leo. Which has sadly, spilled into me not likeing his movies.

Pretty much my exact reasoning. I think he knows how to make great movies, he just doesn't do it for me. And I hate Dicrapio as well.

Last Scorsese movie i enjoyed was Bringing Out the Dead, and other earlier works.

I'm seeing Raging Bull soon at my schools theater, and sooner or later I'll get to Taxi Driver. Out of his movies that I have seen, I only like The Departed. And that was only for awhile, then I watch Infernal Affiars, and I saw, that all the cool stuff that I liked, in The Departed, was taken directly from that movie.

omg. you have to see Taxi Driver and Raging Bull and Goodfellas. For God's sakes.

i honestly can't believe that someone actually put down Scorsese. I didn't think Shutter Island was one of his best, but I always welcome him with open arms.

Hated it. Mobsters are in no way interesting to me. No matter how much good music, camera movement, or actor performance.

but i still dont think Scoresese should be even mentioned here, even if some one doesn't like him.

For me, I still like Spielberg even though I didn't like 'Crystal Skull'. I will never put him here. Lucas on the other hand ...:p

Again, that's his earlier work, which I liked.

Shutter Island was such a chore for me to watch. The only good acting from Jackie Earle Haley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kingsley. A lame, unoriginal, predictable story and less than stellar visuals.

The way some people feel about Burton around here is how I feel about Scorsese.

Another fave director of mine that I'm sad made it to this list but I entirely agree with is George Romero.:csad:
