DIRECTORS whose films you would see just because you know they are involved

besides the thousands mentioned already

Speaking of the Coen Brothers, check out this awesome poster by Tyler Stout I was able to purchase. I was one of 30 to get one these. Sorry, I'm excited:

Darren Aronofsky, J.J. Abrams, Guillermo del Toro, Judd Apatow, Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, Jon Favreau, Clint Eastwood and Slyvester Stallone.

After seeing SatEL THREAD, I was wondering about the directors side. So what Directors's name do you have to hear to say, "hey I am definitely seeing that film"?

For ex. mine would probably have to be
Chan Wook-Park
David Fincher
Zack snyder
Christopher Nolan
Takashi Miike
Tim Burton

I love you...sex?

I'd add Guillermo Del Toro, P.T. Anderson, Tarsem(after the Fall), Neil Marshall and Danny Boyle.

I would have put Miike, but the majority of his films are crap. But he always has one or two gems a year.

That is awesome. You might also like these polish ones (the style reminded me of them)

we really need a poster thread :)

oh, as for directors

Edgar Wright
Del Toro
Chris Nolan
Spielberg...some others

Steven Spielberg
Ridley Scott
Martin Scorsese
Tim Burton
Christopher Nolan
James Cameron
Darren Aronosky
Kevin Smith
David Fincher

I am sure there are others, but these are I can think of now. I am disincluding films made by dead filmmakers, as I assume this is for newer movies, not all-time.

Thanks to Rac for helping me remember a few

You have to remember that Miike does contractual studio style films to get some money going, then makes his own films when he can. Go watch the upcoming Yatterman or the Great Yokai War then go watch Gozu or Audition. His "New Year's" movies are not really full on Miike. You have to watch his V-cinemas first then judge accordingly. But I doubt the average moviegoer knows about that. And he makes on average four to six projects a year. Name one director that does more? Speilberg's been pumping out about a film a year but I'd say his last decade's worth of filmaking has only produced maybe two decent films. To each their own, though...:whatever:

^ Y'know what? To War Party, I don't want to come off as an ass or elitist because I saw some really great cult films mentioned by you in another thread and you've got good taste. Just putting that out there.

Hey, it's all good. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Miike fan. Izo, Gozu, Zebraman, Ichi The Killer, Audition, Dead or Alive Trilogy, Sukiyaki Western Django, his entry in 3 Extremes, The Happiness of the Katakuris, Visitor Q, The Bird People in China, and Full Metal Yakuza are some off the top of my head that I love. But I've seen a lot of terrible films by him. But his good definitely outweighs his bad. And I appreciate the compliment.

And now that I look at the movies I listed, I'm going to add him to my list of directors. I haven't realized how many films of his I love.

Hayao Miyazaki
Guillermo Del Toro

If we're going to add in anime directors I'm going to have to toss in Yoshiaki Kawajiri and Satoshi Kon, with Otomo getting an honorable mention.

Christopher Nolan

James Cameron
Judd Apatow
Martin Scorcese

That poster's amazing. It reminds me of some of those great Polish posters from the 70s and 80s. If anyone's seen them than you know what I'm talking about. Someone needs to start a poster thread...hell, do we already have one? Anyone know?

^ Man, I need to start reading ALL the other posts before I put my two cents in.
