I've been tossing this idea around for quite a while now, but I've had a bit of trouble implementing it.

I thought it would be cool to have some sort of Military RPG, where players can play as members of the various armed forces or (surprise) terrorists. Politicians would also be open for play, but would probably be boring since they rarely fire a gun.

I had planned for each story arc to be a different mission / infiltration / operation / assignment / etc. that would take quite a bit of time.

Perhaps a Black Ops. rpg? That would involve stealth, guns, plenty of combat, and lots of dead NPCs.

Thoughts?

That'd be really quite cool to play. Rainbow Six kind of thing?

That would be very cool. But, maybe have the players be able to do their own thing than just be in a team together.

Like, Player A could be an Air Force Jet Pilot

Player B could be a member of Delta Force

maybe even Player C could be a CIA agent.

heck, we could even maybe have diffrent nations. Use the SAS and Mossad.

I wanna be the bad guy!

This could be a great and nice ode to action movies but much more detailed and realistic.

Byrd, would you be at all interested in Co-chairing this bad boy with me?

....Maybe if I can be president of the USA. :ninja:

Sure, why not. Don't worry about the prez crack. I already got a future president in another RPG.

I'd wager it's because there's not much thought put into a backstory, at least not yet.

Start fleshing it out a bit. Give it some ground rules/guidelines.

Like, instead of just terrorists, how about you take a CoD4 route and have another world power get into the mix?
You could do the Russian civil war thing like they did in CoD4, with the Russian ultranationalists trying to retake the country and bring back the Soviet Union?
You could make it a WWIII scenario and have the ultranationalists ally themselves with other countries, such as Iran, North Korea, and/or possible communist China?

Speaking of WW, you could also turn back into the pages of history and set the game in WWII? Allowing players to work in the theaters of the Pacific and Europe, and take part in famous battles like Midway, Normandy, the desert war in North Africa, and the invasion of Germany?

Personally, I'd go with the fictional, modern/future scenario, though I am a history buff and fan of the WWII setting.
With the modern/future one you aren't tied down to specific events and can keep the game freely flowing and the plot could twist either way.

Only problem I see for this game is that you'd need competent RPers who are at least somewhat familiar with military protocols and the like. Your app should be made to weed out those who don't know, or provide links to educate them.

Also a guide for character classes and the like should be set. Such as have the GMs be the Generals and top commanders while the players are the soldiers in the field.

Now that I think about it, does anyone else think it might be cool if the game started in ancient Rome with the republic and followed the evolution of war through present day? I think if there's an element of history to it, that could be interesting

Personally, I'd just stick with fleshing out a detailed modern scenario. Maybe set it a few years into the future, like 2012 or something like that.

But that's just me.

I'd also like to see paramilitary organizations in the list of playable characters. You know, CIA, NSA, MI5 and MI6, Mossad. Others like that.

I like that idea.

That also brings the idea of having Gladiators involved in the storyline. That'd be sick in the head.

If this takes off I'd like to be a demolition's expert

ya know like bazookas
