🇺🇸 Discussion: Abortion II

US News
^A MAGA judge (Kacsmary) just banned a drug approved by the FDA 23 years ago for abortion.

"In an unprecedented decision, a federal judge in Texas has issued a stay that will shut down the prescribing and distribution of mifepristone in seven days, one of two drugs used for medication abortions that has been on the market in the U.S. for more than two decades."

There was speculation he withheld this decision until after Tuesday's elections to try to help the Republican candidates. And it certainly could have played a factor in the special election in Wisconsin where the Democrat lost narrowly.

Meanwhile, another federal judge just issued the opposite ruling forbidding the FDA from pulling the drug off the market.

Our court system has schizophrenia. :p

This is so infuriating. Mifepristone is also the main medication for treating missed or incomplete miscarriages (ie. Where the pregnancy has failed but the body is not ejecting it on its own), molar pregnancies, and other forms of non-viable pregnancies. Preventing women from appropriately dealing with a pregnancy that is already lost or non-viable can seriously endanger their health and, most importantly for Republicans, damage their ability to have children later.

****ing with these prescriptions goes way beyond any quasi-legitimate debate about abortion or the sanctity of life and is going to cause a lot of collateral damage to couples and women suffering miscarriages and fighting infertility.

"So what if women die? We can always get more."

I wouldn't date a MAGA man. No friggin' way.

What woman wants to date a man who wants her to live his 1950's fantasy of a woman "in her place" anyways?

Seriously. My husband's dad was like that with his mom and he hated it. I wouldn't have married him if he was a caveman anyhow. I wouldn't put up with no man baby.

I'd pay to hear what Dana Bash had to say about him off camera......or maybe even on camera. I didn't see this particular interview.

FL dictator Ron DeSantis signed the 6 week abortion ban late last night in a closed door ceremony (virtually all of the attendees were white women), while ignoring the flooding in Fort Lauderdale. Then zipped up to Liberty University in Virginia to continue his book tour/presidential campaign.

He’s toast next year.

Hope so. You'd think enough people can see he's leading them nowhere good.

RDS' policies are absolutely TOXIC to blue and purple states. Wisconsin and Michigan especially.

I hope Florida voters meet the moment. Because when that six week ban goes into effect, they're going to be in the same position WI was prior to them voting in a 4-3 liberal majority in their state Supreme Court.

Florida's flagrantly gerrymandered districts might make that hard but not impossible.

He needs to get booted out of office.
