...something tells me that the 'Black SuperGays' would still not have the numbers to overtake the white, christian opposition.

Meh, I think it's been done before. I think they even won a championship for it.

Does anyone here even know much about GOProud? I'm familiar with the Log Cabin Republicans, who are quite vocal and critical of the homophobic policies of their party.

The fact that there are TWO gay Republican groups gives me the feeling that GOProud is one of those "yes, gay people are sick monsters and we don't deserve equal rights, but members of our group aren't like that" kind of organization, especially with Anne Coulter so enthusiastically involved.

Probably

I had never heard of GOProud until a link was posted to the strange news story that Anne Coulter was giving a speech for an LGBT organisation

I'm not quite sure what the difference is between the Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud.

I guess they'll keep starting more groups until Larry Craig finds one that he likes.

Tauro also approved a stay for his ruling, pending appeal. The plaintiffs, represented by GLAD, didn't fight the stay. GLAD said the stay is in its clients' best interests, adding that only a "final victory" ensures that they will have access to the Social Security and other benefits of their spouses.

Truth

I hope that we achieve that final victory and get closer to true equality by seeing same sex marriages legalised

Some of the heavy hitters are now getting into the Target/Best Buy debate now: the financial institutions that own those companies' stocks.

It's not like these companies own a significant percentage of stock, but it's never a good thing for a company when the professional or institutional investors in your shareholder pool start becoming activist all of a sudden.

I wondered how long that would take...

Myself, I was surprised to see that. In my experience, institutional investors usually don't give a crap about political issues that don't really impact the company's earnings, and usually only "raise concerns" when its a governance or share price problem they don't like.

Well...if people are threatening to boycott stores over the CEO's actions, it does affect the bottom line.

I am surprised as well but pleased that Tagret's investors are calling the company out

Stephen Colbert - "We all know God would much rather oppress gays than give orphans a home"

:barf: That almost makes me want to be against gay marriage, just so I have as little in common with her as possible.

Hasslebeck, she is certainly going to catch **** for this.

Whenever I've watched the view and this subject comes up, Elizabeth is pretty much the only one that takes a stand on the issue and treats it with respect. Sherry usually goes on to paint gays as evil, aids spreading creatures. Joy turns it into a big joke, despite claiming to be an advocate for the gay community. And Whoopi rarely comments unless it gets too far out of hand.

I think that I dislike Shepard more, she just comes off as a dingbat. Her views on gays is deplorable.

I've duly noted previously that Sherri Shepard is a homophobe. I just really dislike Elizabeth; she comes off as a token Republican spokesblonde along the lines of Anne Coulter.
