Discussion: Relations with Russia

Western sanctions have been a boon for the Russian economy.

1) Russian tourists can no longer spend money in Europe.
2) Europe had to cancel some of its contracts to buy Russian resources for cheap, and now Russia gets to sell their resources internationally at market value.
3) Russian manufacturers have learned to build what they can no longer import from the West, products ranging from cheese to high speed rail.

The dumbest sanction was banning Russian passenger planes from flying over Europe, at the cost of European passenger planes not being able to fly over Russia. Who did they think this was going to hurt more?
