Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

"Brain damage made me more Conservative" is an interesting flex. :funny:

I'm glad Fetterman is okay. He seems like a decent guy.

Authorities say Taral Patel also used the fake account to make racist comments under his own Facebook posts. He was arrested earlier this week on a third-degree felony charge of online impersonation and a misdemeanor charge of misrepresentation of identity.
Patel won the Democratic primary for the seat in March. He's set to run against incumbent Republican Andy Meyers in November.

Remember Republicans say you can't arrest candidates! Unless they are Democrats.

The real story is that only one party is consistently consistent when it comes to prosecution of crimes. Trump's verdict is "rigged". Hunter Biden's isn't. The morons who claim the former are either lying or don't seem to get the concept that the decision rests with the 12 jurors who were picked by both the defense and the prosecution. The "rigged" part of the system (not having enough money to mount an aggressive defense) doesn't apply to either trial.

The notion that jury trials should be beyond reproach is one that would have been alien and in fact anathema to the left as recently as one or two years ago. There's in fact a long history of strong and comprehensive criticism of the so-called justice system from the authentic left, that probably goes back as far as we have relevant records. Where I grew up, in a French-speaking city, the "palace of justice" is referred to by much of the working class as "the palace of injustice".

Personally, I'm going to stick to the view of the justice system that I had prior to these partisanship-tickling trials, which was based off a combination of lived experience, study, and communication with those in the system: that there are immense problems with our civil and legal systems, including bias, including corruption, some of which would occur in any system, and some are specific to our society.

Chris Murphy is correct. And, before people call hypocrisy regarding the judicial system, there is no comparison between courts where people are tried by a jury and a court of political appointees who decide questions about women's health, gun control, and other issues of constitutional law.

The SCOTUS is in desperate need of reform and, until that happens, their credibility will continue to be in the toilet.

What’s going in New Jersey, where everything is turning up roses?

First was the Sen. Bob Menendez indictment, ending his reelection bid as a Democrat.

Then it was hero Rep. Andy Kim immediately picking up the baton.

Then it was the end of New Jersey’s corrupt ballot line system, which essentially empowered Democratic Party county bosses to pick their candidates for office. (Thanks, Kim!)

Then it was the end of Tammy Murphy’s nepotistic bid for Senate (her husband is the governor).

And now? We may be witnessing the fall of New Jersey’s most corrupt Democratic Party power broker, George Norcross, as he faces a multi-count indictment for 12 years of wrongdoing.

Awkward...

New Jersey is certainly a mess that needs cleaning up. That being said, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the wife of a politician running for office. Would she have been a serious contender if not for her husband? I don't know, but that part was a stupid comment. Clinton, McCaskill, Dingell, etc all ran after their husbands were in office. It sounds like dipstick on Fox News telling LeBron to "shut up and dribble".
