This should have been repealed decades ago but as usual Congress waits and waits until it's nearly too late or already is to act.![]()
Democrats move to repeal 1873 law they say could pave way for national abortion ban
The Comstock Act, largely unenforced in recent history, could be used to restrict abortion drugs in post-Roe USwww.theguardian.com
Yeah. They also should have codified Roe v Wade into law when they had a chance. Sometimes things don't seem like they're necessary at the time and the lack of housekeeping jumps up and bites you. This should have been repealed decades ago but as usual Congress waits and waits until it's nearly too late or already is to act.

The Dems need to get serious about defeating Trumpty Dumpty
In the last several months, the chips have been falling in former U.S. President Donald Trump’s favor to a level that probably astonishes this convicted felon. Consider the following:1. Three of the four serious state and federal criminal lawsuits have been delayed by Trump’s lawyers and judges...www.alternet.org
The bottom line is that people are always going to debate strategy and the Monday (or in the case of elections, Wednesday morning) quarterbacking always happens.I thought we were....?
If McGrath was guaranteed to lose, they might as well run someone who can inspire.Take the Kentucky senate race.....people said a more progressive candidate has a better chance of winning than McGrath and after she lost, they said "you see?" Horse hockey pucky.....McConnell wasn't going to lose that race no matter who the Dems ran and McGrath, for that state, was as strong a candidate as there was.
Latimer prevailed against Bowman. People want elected officials to actually work for them, not engage in publicity stunts and acting like Republicans.
Frankly, I would be happy if every Squad member (save AOC) got voted out. They’re not working for their constituents.
Political stances by elected officials aren't often driven by morality. Generally, it's somewhere in between what your constituency wants and where you want to lead. Clearly Bowman deviated too far towards the latter. That being said, the atrocities that are happening in Gaza (inspired by the Hamas attack on so many innocent people) is something that needs to condemned. Netanyahu is a criminal and the sooner Israel has a "leader" that wants to work out a comprehensive, political solution, the better off the world will be. Bibi belongs behind bars (like the alliteration?) and not in the seat of power.Latimer prevailed against Bowman. Well said and I very much agree!!!!Political stances by elected officials aren't often driven by morality. IMO, to unseat the left flank of the democratic party is "exactly" where we don't want to go. I understand that politics is often performative, but what Israel has done needs to be criticized by every rational person. Ditto for the actions of Hamas on 10/7.
While I "generally" agree with Bowman on policy, the whole fire alarm thing and his general demeanor isn't what voters generally expect from their representatives. IMO, that's why he lost.
If you want to represent those who elected you, I suggest taking a page out of the book written by Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and others.
What about Omar?Latimer prevailed against Bowman. People want elected officials to actually work for them, not engage in publicity stunts and acting like Republicans.

Just to be clear, "I'M" far left on the political spectrum, but that doesn't mean I dismiss atrocities by anyone. To repeat what I've said before, what Hamas did on 10/7 was inexcusable and so was the response by the Israeli government; the main problem being that it's lead by someone who probably would be more suited for jail than a seat of power. There HAS to be a political solution that recognizes the rights of the Palestinian people.A lot of the far left is pushing these whacked out beliefs like believing every thing Hamas or Palestine is saying about the I/P conflict but dismiss Israel’s side because of Netanyahu (and think the number of innocent Israelis kidnapped, killed or maimed on 10/7 is played up). Or they think Biden can tell Israel what to do because of the aid we give them — but Israel is a sovereign nation, not a U.S. territory. This is a problem Israel should’ve fixed years ago.
And furthermore, no country should ever negotiate with Hamas or believe everything they say. You don’t negotiate with a terrorist organization.
