Discussion: The North American Union

who said that?
and as for adding " another layer " ?
describe this layer and it's hinderances.
If you actually read my posts, you would see how a NAU would be a bad thing for this country. But you being from Mexico, I can see how you would prefer that the US loosen it's borders.

If you actually read my posts, you would see how a NAU would be a bad thing for this country. But you being from Mexico, I can see how you would prefer that the US loosen it's boarders.

really?

why?

and it's " borders" :cwink:

I thought it was pretty obvious.
an open Market means more opportunitty for everyone.
I'm going to change the subject real fast, we can get back to the NAU in a bit. How then do you feel about the FairTax?

Nothing huh? The Amero would destroy the Mexican Economy if it were enacted. Who would preside over the currency? Currently we have the Fed in the United States, the Ministry of Finance in Canada and Banco de Mexico dictating the Intrest Rates. Who would preside over this in the case of the Amero?

Consider this; how do most Americans feel about the UN? How do you think Americans will feel about the NAU in half a century?

Consider this; how do most Americans feel about the UN? How do you think Americans will feel about the NAU in half a century?
The UN is just like any other Government. They want to control the individual's lives through oppession. Oppression in their case is taxation. The UN has been trying to undermine US Souvereignity through taxing its citizens. They recently tried to pass a Tax on Transfats! With their Oil-For-Food scandle and a host of other things, I do not like the UN. I think they are like most Politicians and think they know what is best for us so they want to make decisions for us.

http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2002/tst032502.htm

This is the most dangerous thing that could happen to this country's souvernity. This is digusting how our Govenment would even consider this. Just because it was done in Europe, does not mean in anyway that I would be on board with such nonsense. Its December 31st 1983, 1984 is right around the corner if we let our Govenment think that the American People is OK with this. Do you remember that book? Oceania, Eurasia, Eastasia, it's coming if we don't speak up!

what's that?
sounds French.

-Maybe you mean this

What’s that?

Sounds French.

Exactly. If we had a North American Union, who do we answer to as a Nation? We give up our Sovereignty for what? Free trade? This is ridiculas that Some people on this board are OK with the fact we would sell out! The American People need to wake up the threat of a Union. It's not going to strenghen this country!

LMAO oh my gawd.

-Or this

LMAO oh my god.

More than likely, situations like that would be solved like the UN solves them now, by imposing Fines to that Nation's Government. So say NY is again attacked by Terrorist in the Same Fashion as in 9/11. The Terrorist Snuck through the border of Belize and Mexico. Now, they would have absolutly no problem getting throught the Mexican/US border. We discover that this Terrorist Groups comes from some Middle Eastern Country. We go to Fight said ME Country. The NAU doesn't agree with our actions. The NAU fines the US for our Military actions against the ME Country. Who pays that fine. The Government derieves its revenue from Taxing its citizens. Who pays the tythe to Ceaser?

-Or this

I went shopping in San Diego yesterday and it took me 90 minutes to get through the border.
they closed it down 4 hours after I crossed because they mistook a stereo component for a bomb.

So yeah.

You are an idiot. Officially.

"Ceaser" LMAO.

That's funny. Make fun of the spelling, make light of the issue. It's ok. The message is clear. You have no understanding of what is at stake. Be an ass. I bet you are all about diveristy, but you just can't handle diveristy of thought. Try adding to the debate, unless you are not educated enough to do so with out just making fun of others with opinions you don't agree with.

Or this

Oh, I can handle diversity of thought.
I just need there to be thought there to begin with.
Which isn't apparent in your posts.
In other words, there's nothing to debate.

I'm the idiot for seeing the dangers of bigger government. Great, I guess if it were up to you, all we need is the UN and lifes good.

Or this

You said a lot of gibberish.
The terrorists had student visas.
They didn't "sneak" in.
Plus, why do you keep talking as if I already stated my case on this when I have yet not done so?

So you are saying that your last 4 posts add anything discussion about the NAU or the Amero? It doesn't. You take a quick crack at something I say. don't add to the discussion. You think that you are witty with your little remarks?

Or this

I Know I am witty.
Does paranoid crap like the kind you're spewing add anything?
No.
Will this union ever happen?
No, regardless of how many " stoptheunion" websites you browse and petitions you sign.

Are you in denile?

Or this

Haha.
How would an American Union make you more dependant on government than you are now?
Let's say this union did happen.
Let's say.
Markets open up of all a sudden and you have nothing more to add than " oh noes teh UN is teh suxxor!"
Your lack of vision is stagering.

By adding another layer to our respective governments, my friend. I bet you think that Communism was a great idea, just the people in power messed it up, Right? You are so jaded if you think that Government can fix anything.

Or this

Who said that?
And as for adding " another layer " ?
Describe this layer and it's hindrances?

If you actually read my posts, you would see how a NAU would be a bad thing for this country. But you being from Mexico, I can see how you would prefer that the US loosen it's boarders.

Or this

Really?

Why?

And it's " borders"

Fixed, thanks

Or this

Again.
Why would I being from Mexico, want the US to Loosen it's borders?

You have yet to tell me why you would or wouldn't support the idea. Let's start there.

Or this

I thought it was pretty obvious.
An open Market means more opportunity for everyone.

I'm going to change the subject real fast, we can get back to the NAU in a bit. How then do you feel about the FairTax?

Or this

Need some work, could function out well for you guys, after some revisions.

-How about instead of coming into this thread and being condescending with someone by pointing out their spelling and grammar errors (in a message board no less) that you disagree with (which I’m not sure if you disagree with SB or not since you haven’t given any solid thoughts on your position on the topic), you actually add some substance to the conversation without someone having to twist your arm to get you to do it.

Consider this; how do most Americans feel about the UN? How do you think Americans will feel about the NAU in half a century?

Or how would we feel about it NOW if the SOBs would be honest about their intentions...?

Might look like: :bh:

LOL, how about this?
I failed to capitalize my " what? " are you really going to compare that to writing sovereignty as " souvernity" ? or ridiculous as " ridiculas" ?

oh, and sport?

" gawd" is mostly internet slang.
so no, I DON'T mean "god"

so LOL, no, please....don't be ridiculas.:o

next time I want your opinion I'll go ahead and tell you.
since you obviously have none and merely parrot the views of others, I see you capitalized a lot of words but kind of didn't add anything to the conversation yourself.

but see, there's this.

there's no substance to add because the topic at hand is ******ed.
there's always fear when a proposal like this is on the boards, the fact is it won't happen mostly because everyone on every side feels like it's a step to "take something" from them.
all I hear is how the NAU would suck.
here's a newflash morons, being under a single currency doesn't necessarily mean that there's going to be some sort of new world order.
infact, for instance in Tijuana the dollar was pretty much the "currency" almost all the way up to 1994, it's still pretty much universally accepted ( except in government offices) does this mean that we lost our
"sovereignty"
LOL no, does that mean that under a single currency you'd loose it?
no, anyone arguing that is an idiot reading right wing ( and in Canada left wing, ironically) conspiracy sites.
I mean, do you seriously want me to discuss this with someone who equates the currency with an Orwellian nightmare?
seriously?
I mean, sure, the loss of habeas corpus, the hate mongering towards Muslims, the scapegoating of illegal immigrants and de facto anti-Mexican campaigns of some politicians, the economic **** hole that both your country and mine are mired in ( sure, mine more than yours but look at were you stood 8 years ago) and you really think THIS is worth discussing?
much less fretting?
I mean, really? most of you coming in here speak as if you know what you're talking about ( when you clearly don't ) and expect to be taken seriously?
I mean, someone talked about replacing the constitution of the US.

why?
why do people talk without knowing the facts behind ****?
don't you people know how the EU works for god's sakes?
don't you people understand that ONLY conspiracy theorists think that this is some huge move to establish some sort of strange new world order?
and, do you really think that Mexico and Canada are going to bully the US into some sort of agreement were it doesn't stand to profit?
have you never cracked open a history book ever?
have not watched news shows in the last 10 years?
have you a working brain inside that skull of yours?
do you think I should point out the rather obvious flaws in the reasoning of every idiot that thinks that every country outside the US is out to get your super-awesome-extra-special-chocolate-covered way of life?
I mean, I called this dude out of his rather thinly veiled contempt for my opinions based solely on the fact that I'm from Mexico.
sound like a person worth debating to you?
not to me.
should I have debated him on the fact that he implied that the Terrorists in the 9-11 attacks snuck in through Mexico when they were in the US because of student visas?
maybe I should point out that if I was a terrorist I wouldn't sneak in through Mexico, having to jump a wall , then another wall, then another wall and then having to do a little death march through the desert and maybe if I'm lucky enough to live, plot my attack on the us.
when I can step over a 6 inch concrete curb from Canada.
should I have told him and others how even implying this flies in the face of reason?

so in closing, you want to know why I didn't add anything to your conversation?
because if I did, it would be so far beyond your rather weak reasoning that you wouldn't be able to grasp it if you lived to be a hundred.
want me to "contribute"? give statements worth contributing to, I don't go striking up a conversation with the drunk hobo on the corner of the liquor store just because he happens to be talking gibberish when I pass by.

grow a brain sport, maybe you and I can interact more fruitfully then.

^Ownage. And ROFL.

I've held back on chiming in on this NAU thing. I first heard about by it's wikipedia entry. 5. Months. Ago. Some big evil secret cabal to rob you of liberty and money. :whatever:

I can see the logic behind it too. That NAFTA was the first step on the road to an EU like arrangement for US/Can/Mex. And that given the mess the EU is a solid plan should be created for our eventual integration. But I don't know if it could work. English Canadians are extremely paranoid about loosing our identity. French Canada not so much with the whole language thing. I can't, and won't, speak for Mexicans. However this thread has shown the volume of alarmist chicken little dingbats who would scream 1984 till they died are in the US.

I'm pro globalization, and feel that common currencies aren't a bad thing. Although I doubt the name Amero would stick. It would probably end up called the North American Dollar. After all the official currency in 2/3's of this union already have dollars. And the third uses them mostly anyway. But the working name of the Euro was the European Florin. A coin that at one point in time over the last 1000 years each EU nation minted. But there you are.

Hey Sparkle, I really hope you're right. Seriously. I just don't see it the same way you do given what the Agenda posted at Whitehouse.gov states. It looks to be anything BUT as benign as the EU. That Agenda has bite, and its existence alone changes this from 'conspiracy theory' to 'actuality'.

Time will tell, but I'd expect you, of all people, to put a little less faith (and trust) in Dubya.

Bush has lost his mind!

to put it plainly.
in any arrangement, the US will stand to win.
maybe not the US people, but it's corporations.
this is, in reality a symptom of a flawed super capitalism.
but the darkest thing?
it's consumer driven.
I was putting up my Tree a second ago and I noticed that EVERYTHING was made in China, but I bought Everything in the states.
so, the economic systems need to shift, in order for a North American Union to function.
I was actually hoping for A Latin American Union some years ago, but even between Spanish Speakers ( and those nutty Brazilians) they couldn't come to an agreement, so I don't really see any NAU in the future.

I might be wrong though.

Or the NAD for short.

Fast forward to 2020 and this common currency thing is real. On guy hits his buddy up for some cash.

Guy 1: "Dude I need to borrow a couple NADs. Help me out"
Guy 2: "Excuse me! I only have 2 and I'm rather attached to them!"

That was bad but it had to be said. :oldrazz:

LOL, how about this?
I failed to capitalize my " what? " are you really going to compare that to writing sovereignty as " souvernity" ? or ridiculous as " ridiculas" ?

-No I was comparing it to the way you spelled "hinderances" and "opportunitty" more commonly known as hindrances and opportunity. As well as your spelling but that doesn’t matter since I was pointing out how stupid it is to be the message board spell checker.

oh, and sport?

" gawd" is mostly internet slang.
so no, I DON'T mean "god"

so LOL, no, please....don't be ridiculas.:o

-Well you know I just can’t help it when the opportunitty presents itself.

next time I want your opinion I'll go ahead and tell you.
since you obviously have none and merely parrot the views of others, I see you capitalized a lot of words but kind of didn't add anything to the conversation yourself.

-Yeah, except for the part when I provided links and videos backing my point of view. What have you contributed except for an unneeded condescending point of view.

but see, there's this.

there's no substance to add because the topic at hand is ******ed.

-If it is so ******ed, then why do you feel so compelled to come into the conversation and add absolutely nothing to it besides pointing out the spelling errors of other posters? If you are not interested in the subject matter there is plenty more threads to post on.

there's always fear when a proposal like this is on the boards, the fact is it won't happen mostly because everyone on every side feels like it's a step to "take something" from them.
all I hear is how the NAU would suck.
here's a newflash morons, being under a single currency doesn't necessarily mean that there's going to be some sort of new world order.
infact, for instance in Tijuana the dollar was pretty much the "currency" almost all the way up to 1994, it's still pretty much universally accepted ( except in government offices) does this mean that we lost our
"sovereignty"

-Congratulations buddy, you finally presented your point of view on this thread. Was that so GD hard to do?

LOL no, does that mean that under a single currency you'd loose it?
no, anyone arguing that is an idiot reading right wing ( and in Canada left wing, ironically) conspiracy sites.
I mean, do you seriously want me to discuss this with someone who equates the currency with an Orwellian nightmare?
seriously?

-We’re not just talking about currency; we’re talking about the NAU drafting a constitution just like the EU. And yes you are supposed to share ideas on the subject not get your rocks off by treating people like ****.

-Absolutely. I think it is constructive anytime a person debates on what they think is wrong in their country. What merit do those other subjects have over this one? There are other threads that have discussed these issues. If you would rather discuss those issues over this one, find a preexisting one or start a new thread.

much less fretting?
I mean, really? most of you coming in here speak as if you know what you're talking about ( when you clearly don't )

-There you go with that condescending attitude again. If you would just check it at the door, so to speak, before you came into this thread maybe you would have a grasp on why people are talking about this issue.

and expect to be taken seriously?
I mean, someone talked about replacing the constitution of the US.

-Yeah people are talking about the US constitution being replaced because the EU has already drafted there own. And they are the model that the NAU would use in its formation, if it was to come about.

why?
why do people talk without knowing the facts behind ****?
don't you people know how the EU works for god's sakes?

-Then let everyone know how it works. Educate people with links and a synopsis of how it works. Present your point of view in a respectful manner.

don't you people understand that ONLY conspiracy theorists think that this is some huge move to establish some sort of strange new world order?
and, do you really think that Mexico and Canada are going to bully the US into some sort of agreement were it doesn't stand to profit?
have you never cracked open a history book ever?

-The better question is have you.

have not watched news shows in the last 10 years?

-Which ones? What do they refer to that relates to the subject matter? Links please.

have you a working brain inside that skull of yours?
do you think I should point out the rather obvious flaws in the reasoning of every idiot that thinks that every country outside the US is out to get your super-awesome-extra-special-chocolate-covered way of life?

-Not quite sure what you mean by this since no one in this thread has talked about how awesome and kick ass the US is but rather the US losing its sovereignty as well as Mexico and Canada.

-Uh yeah. Provide sources to back your claims up and educate people.

maybe I should point out that if I was a terrorist I wouldn't sneak in through Mexico, having to jump a wall , then another wall, then another wall and then having to do a little death march through the desert and maybe if I'm lucky enough to live, plot my attack on the us.
when I can step over a 6 inch concrete curb from Canada.
should I have told him and others how even implying this flies in the face of reason?

-Why didn’t you present this point of reasoning before? Why do people have to twist your arm and deal with your BS before you give an opinion on something.

so in closing, you want to know why I didn't add anything to your conversation?

-Let me guess, some diatribe about how you are intellectually smarter than everyone on this thread, except you don’t provide sources or even an opinion on the subject matter.

because if I did, it would be so far beyond your rather weak reasoning that you wouldn't be able to grasp it if you lived to be a hundred.
want me to "contribute"? give statements worth contributing to, I don't go striking up a conversation with the drunk hobo on the corner of the liquor store just because he happens to be talking gibberish when I pass by.

-Wow look like I was right. If you don’t want to contribute anything to this thread then I ask again, why are you here?

grow a brain sport, maybe you and I can interact more fruitfully then.

I would never dream of interacting with someone so childish and condescending on any subject of importance.

:oldrazz:

Or worse, a guy with a gun stops you as you pass an alley, pulls you in and demands that you give him your NADs.
