The economy will create the mandate. It is only a matter of time. It is going to hit the fan and then we will see the next great change in American society. It could be a Ron Paul-type revolution, or a leftist revolution but there will be a dramtic shift.

The Paul Ryan plan is peanuts compared to what is really going to happen.

...so I heard Mitt Romney made it official and announced that he's running for President again.

I think you either give voters too much or too little credit. It is hard to tell.

All I know is that when the economy DID hit the fan in September 2008, the left saw Obama's victory as inevitable (which it was) and thought this was a "transformative" moment where we would shake away the Reagan-era and enter a new New Deal. Time ran the cover "Franklin Delano Obama" with the president-elect's face superimposed on FDR's. Carvill published "40 More Years" and everyone thought we were in a great political shift due to facing the abyss of another Depression.

Two years later the GOP won in historic numbers running on a campaign that called modest HCR "socialism" and made most voters think FDR-style governance leads to Death Panels. Now, seeing Paul Ryan's plan and some ridiculous state measures that have more to do with ideology than austerity measures (busting unions despite getting the cuts, firing thousands of state employees and cutting services to avoid a 1 cent sales tax, etc. etc.) is leading to another huge shift.

Voters aren't moving towards libertarianism or retro-progresvissm. They just are pissed about the economy, the wars and the partisanship so they go with whoever lost the last election every 2-4 years these days.

REally? I didn't notice that because I was too busy watching Palin and Trump eat "real New York pizza" at a chain with a knife and fork.

Yeah, I saw a clip of them eating pizza together. The reporter covering the story then decided to condemn Trump for using a knife and fork to eat it. (And we wonder why these morons continue to stay in the news!?)

That's because Obama is a horrible President by any measure. Lincoln and FDR were horrible Presidents from an economic, constitutional and (classical) liberal perspective - but at least they had brass balls of leadership. Obama is a mealy mouth wimp.

Furthermore, Obama didn't have the FDR advantage of WWII to help him blind the people (remember, even with the war, FDR suffered huge political defeats due to the New Deal). There is a lot more transparency in Washington which makes it harder for Presidents to avoid proper scrutiny.

That being said, I think voters are clearly moving towards libertarianism, especially when you understand where the movement was 20 years ago, hell 10 years ago.

Americans are inherently libertarian. A charismatic libertarian politician would take the country by storm (look at Reagan who essentially ran a libertarian-sans-foreign-policy campaign). Ron Paul having the success he has, in spite of being a horrible fit for that sort of figure, is truly amazing.

I eat Chicago, and New York Style Pizza with a knife and fork. It is too hard to hold a piece of hot pizza and eat it.

What's the big deal....I'm sure others do that as well.

Now, thin crust, that is a different story.

I've eaten fries with chopsticks. Didn't want to get the grease on book and notebook, and had some unopened wooden chopsticks from a previous takeout.

I know all about the "folding" of the pizza, etc....but damn, hot pizza is hot pizza...and Chicago and New York Style pizza is FANTASTIC pizza but a ***** to eat...lol

I've eaten pizza with a knife and fork many, many times. I just think it's ridiculous for a reporter to make THAT a point for condemning.

Sometimes you have to eat it with a knife and fork. If the crust isn't crispy enough, the pizza falls apart when you try to hold it.

Yes but have you tried a pizza with chopsticks :hehe:

Well Marx, when it comes to Trump and Palin, EVERYTHING that can be talked about and hopefully there is a lot of negative for them to pick from....THAT WILL be in the news. Apparently in this case, there wasn't much negative...lol

O'Reilly was about to start taking bets if Trump was actually going to "take a bite"...I don't think he ever actually did....it was pretty hysterical.

haha, no way Mr. Richey Rich would be caught dead actually eating pizza at a low end chain restaurant.

Maybe Palin should fart next time this same reporter is around. I can imagine the headlines:

DOW CRASHES 300 PT.
MANUFACTURING NUMBERS DOWN
NEW CIVIL WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST
SARAH PALIN FARTS

Except that Sarah Palin Farts will be the top headline...

Sarah Palin is the Paris Hilton of politics, famous for being famous. :funny:

I also accidentally posted that in the wrong thread :o

Have you had pizza in New York? That's like going to the Vatican and slapping the Pope! ;)

Unless you're in Chicago, put the knife and fork down when pizza is involved.

:funny:

I have had pizza in New York City and no, I didn't use a knife and fork. :oldrazz:

That's crazy.....you eat however the hell you want...lol, unless the government wants to start telling us how to do that as well......I wouldn't put it past them.
