SV, I swear you must have a radar or something that goes off when anything negative about the Democratic party is posted....

One side is "obviously" worse to you SV because you are extremely biased to one side. Which is fine, that is your opinion, no problem there. :)

Well find me an example of a Democrat Senator using over blown "the world is on fire" fear tactics to prove me wrong

Maybe you can find me an ad put out by the DNC like this one put out by the RNC

Ebola? Keep Terrorists out of the US? in the same ad? You would think this is a parody of a campaign ad it's so over the top, but hey both sides do it equally right and I am just biased.

I stand by the fact that you are biased...you have proven that enough, again, it's your opinion you have every right to it.

This is one that I remember on the Senate floor, not a commercial, but of course you are going to agree with everything he says, therefore its not "over the top"...and I'm on vacation so, I'm going to go grab another glass of wine and head for the hot tub. ;)

Prepare the zombie apocalypse

"The world is growing ever more dangerous, and our defense spending is wholly inadequate to confront the danger," Cotton said. "To be exact, during the last four or five years, the world has grown gravely darker. We have steadily disarmed, partly with a sincere desire to give a lead to other countries and partly due to the severe financial pressure of the time. But a change must now be made. We must not continue longer on a course in which we alone are growing weaker while every other nation is growing stronger."

He continued: "I wish I could take credit for those eloquent but ominous words, but I cannot. Winston Churchill sounded that warning in 1933 as Adolf Hitler had taken power in Germany. Tragically, Great Britain and the West didn't heed this warning, when they might have strangled that monster in his crib. Rather they let the locust continue to eat away at the common defense."

Maybe Senators Cotton and Cruz can go on a tour telling everybody how the world is on fire and we need to spend more on weapons.

Old Ass Ludacris Burns the Entire Bush Family

c8dgc5xoadivhsc5qyq9.png

Ludacris hasn't been a great or even good rapper in a very long time. But today he met Jeb Bush and sent a nice little punchline at the entire Bush family, staff, record label, and crew.

Luda was as at the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta this morning because he was being formally recognized by the state House for the charitable work he's done through his Ludacris Foundation. Jeb Bush was there for some other other BS, and a photo-op was arranged between the two so that Jeb would have an opportunity to present himself as something more than a stiff and boring politician.

Jeb Tweeted: Never thought @Ludacris would be my opening act! His foundation does great work

Haha. "Rappers are cool and not dangerous!" — Jeb Bush

Jeb, in full ham mode, also told the press that he "just came to see Ludacris," which is like the old white politician's version of that Marshawn Lynch quote.

In any event, Ludacris—who has a history of criticizing Jeb's older brother—took the photo, but he wasn't about to play Jeb's game.

As he is leaving statehouse, Ludacris is asked which Bush is his favorite. His response: "The one outside."

How the hell does this guy constantly get voted?

http://www.salon.com/2015/03/20/louie_gohmert_its_time_to_bomb_iran/

“We need to encourage this administration to go take out Iran’s nuclear capability,” Gohmert told the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins. ”I don’t think we ought to put Israel in position of having to save both themselves and the United States. I think it’s time to bomb Iran — anything that resembles a nuclear facility.”

I will give Gohmert some credit though, most Republicans are to chickenpoop to say what there ideas for Iran are if we don't do the treaty

Gohmert's district is one of the most conservative in the country. That's why. There are a lot of Congresspeople that you can question why they get consistently elected and it all comes down to where they're from.

I am not saying a Democrat should win the district but why doesn't somebody try primary him who is a little more sane

Two very big reasons:

1. Primaries are typically where the most extreme candidates win thanks to the motivation of the extreme grassroots base. The heavy conservative and heavy progressive grassroots are far more motivated to go out and vote on an little known election than moderates and rationals are who typically go out just during election day.

2. Again, the make up of Gohmert's district is super-conservative. No sane Republican would ever do well there.

When they redistricted Gohmert's district they gave him a chunk of a Democrat district that basically voted for conservative Democrats who were pro farmer. I have to think they could find a right enough primary candidate that might get people out to vote in a primary(playing on "family values" and "farmer values")

Adult Lawmaker Ruins Children's Bill Submission With Anti-Abortion Joke

rnllmqoir5vlx2mlnzst.png

A group of New Hampshire fourth-graders who traveled to the state's capital in Concord to learn about the joys of civic engagement were given a surprisingly realistic picture of the American legislative process after one lawmaker used their bill—a proposal to name the red-tailed hawk the official state raptor—as an opportunity to rail against the evils of abortion.

House Bill 373—drafted, again by a group of nine- and 10-year-old elementary school students—was discussed on the New Hampshire House floor yesterday after the class managed to pass it through the body's environment and agriculture committee.

Republican State Rep. Warren Groen said the following of the proposal:

"(The red-tailed hawk) mostly likes field mice and small rodents. It grasps them with its talons and then uses its razor sharp beak to rip its victims to shreds and then basically tear it apart, limb from limb. And I guess the shame about making this the state bird is it would make a much better mascot for Planned Parenthood."

Rep. John Burt followed up with the knockout punch to the bill, which, once more, lest we forget, came from a bunch of tiny people born after the year 2005, and is about a pretty bird:

"Now we do have a $10 billion budget and that's why I'm up here against this bill," said Burt. "We should be working on that instead of worrying about what our next bird's going to be. Because bottom line – if we keep bringing more of these bills and bills and bills that really I feel we shouldn't have in front of us, we'll be picking a state hot dog next."

"That (the abortion reference) was probably less than the gentlemen who stood up and made jokes. That was almost more upsetting to them because they understood those references," the school's principal, Mark Deblois, told the Associated Press. "Why didn't they take us seriously? Why were people laughing?"

Now that's how you get kids interested in politics :o

I would have been furious...and as the principal I would have have LOUDLY let them know how upset I was....that is ridiculous.

It's like you're not paying attention to anything I say because you're blinded by the perceived stupidity of people in that district voting for Gohmert. Gohmert represents the conservative attitudes of that district, even with the former Democrats that got put in there. Not only that, but again, the majority of primary voters, particularly in this day and age, are motivated by the grassroots base. It's why Obama beat Hillary. It's why Romney had to lurch to the right to fight off Santorum. It's why we see crazies like Gohmert win. It's why the GOP establishment has become so deathly afraid of amateurs like the Tea Party. Finding the right candidate that fits your personal mold would get slaughtered in the primaries, especially by an extreme conservative who enjoys the benefits of incumbency.

And to make your point even more moot, those conservative Democrats you bring up are no longer Democrats, they're Republicans. And they're the type of Republican that is most hostile to the Obama Administration. Just like how recent Republican efforts have made the Hispanic demographic more left-leaning than they should be, recent Democratic electoral efforts have turned Southern rural whites more conservative than they should be. The current Democratic electoral strategy has been nothing but one big gigantic middle finger to the rural whites, abandoning them in favor of youths, single women, blacks, Hispanics, and gays. While the Republican Party remains incredibly fractured in today's age, the Democratic Party has become ideologically smaller; more progressive while casting away the conservative Democrats that gave the party its Congressional strength in the past (it's why I think it's going to be very hard for Democrats to recapture Congress for a long time). These Democrats you mention, are the same kind of "Democrats" we see in West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

While I understand it's hard to knock somebody out who is already an incumbent, all I am saying is there has to be some far right person(but not as far as Gohmert) who can run against Gohmert in a primary who might have a shot.

It would be nice if the entire country had jungle primaries so places like Texas we could see Gohmert go up against a less extreme Republican(much easier to beat him in a general election then a primary)

But the people of Texas, or at least Gohmert's district aren't unhappy with him. He quite accurately represents the majority of his constituents comically terrible views.

Unless he's found to be corrupt, inept or has a sex scandal they have no reason to vote for a less crazy man.

Now a crazier man... maybe.

I can't imagine that 70% of his district agree with some of his more radical comments. I think it's just a case that a good percentage just vote republican for the sake of voting republican but given an actual choice they might choose the less extreme one
