Sorry Handsome Rob, but the Republicans are on the wrong side of history. Have been for awhile now. What they're doing now is legalizing corruption and kleptocracy. They're just doing it openly now that Trump is President and a minority of voters sent a clear message that they don't give a **** about their own well being and the well being of their fellow Americans.

Precisely.

Oh, I agree. So then you will also agree that, as a matter of principle, the Democrats should be "the better party" and allow Trump's noms an up-or-down vote?

They likely will. According to politifact.com, the Democrats have never refused to hear a Republican president's nominee.

This election cycle has been flouting precedence for some time now.

But should it always be up to the Dems to be the better party in situations like this? Shouldn't the GOP be reasonable on occasion?

It's hard to respect GOP principles when you have people like Ted Cruz act like a total obstructionist when Obama was President and then turn around and say he is worried the Dems in Congress and the House will be obstructionists now that Trump is President.

Yeah, I mean, "When they go low, we go high" is great and all, but... couldn't they just as easily stop going low in the first place?

Does Mitch McConnell even try to hide being a massive partisan hypocrite?

This piece of s***...

He pushes for a year to block Obama's (a president elected with a majority) nominees. And now he has the gall to act like its wrong for the Dems to block the nominees of a president elected with a minority.

He's 74. I sincerely hope this ****er isnt around much longer. I wouldnt go so far as to wish death on him, but the day this man leaves congress and washington for good will be a wonderful day.

I'm not wishing for it, but I sure as hell won't shed a tear when the day comes.

Huh.

Rand Paul is apparently opposing the immediate repeal of Obamacare. That is not where I saw a break in party loyalty to come from on this issu.

Well, it's easy to say we're going to take 30 million people's healthcare away when you know Obama will veto it. Also those 30 million people have loved ones who don't want to see them suffer and or die.

53% of Republicans think artists should be required to perform at the inauguration if Trump asks

Quite the party you got there, GOP. :o

And the Dems lost! :funny:

You Trump supporters (if you are) seriously need to come up with some new material. It's not funny or annoying, it's just plain zombie now - it's like a disturbing hive mind. :sly:

Not that surprising coming from a party whose house doesn't want to involve ethics. I still can't believe how out in the open they made that.

Yeah, that Twitter post has been deleted. As it turns out, the poll said that Republicans think artists should put aside their differences and performed when asked . . . not that they should be required to.

Maybe people should read articles and not just erroneous headlines.

Fake news . . . :whatever:

The Motherland needs their musical obeisance. Its their duty! :o

What the Republican Party did last night at the wee hours of the morning was vile and cowardly. Rather than take away the disliked portions of the ACA, like the mandate, they take away the important parts. Last night the GOP voted to kill millions of Americans. I'll be on the phone with Flake and McCain's offices today to seek an explanation for why they voted for my Mother to die. Her cancer keeps coming back and the only reason she was able to get care for it last time was because of the pre-existing condition protections.

It is important that this is only the first step. We have to see what the reconciliation bill they make is. This morning was just a vote to begin the process of making the reconciliation bill, which is still a ******** way to bypass the fillibuster.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but I think it's important to remember that there is no divorcing the bad from the good when it comes to the ACA. They all work together. The mandate is intertwined with the "pre-existing condition" issue. You can't take away one and keep the other.
Anyone who tells you that they can keep the good parts of the ACA and get rid of the bad, is lying to you.

There is 1 simple fix to health care(Obamacare or not), price regulation on drugs. Trump actually mentioned that in his press conference yesterday, sadly my guess is he won't act on it when other Republicans(hell and even some higher up Democrats) get in his ear.

Pharmaceuticals will simply relocate if their IP is made worthless, though. You can't just smash a company's business model and expect it to continue doing the same public good.

Edit: disregard the above. I had NO IDEA there was no proper procurement process for public contacting for medicines in the USA. That is absolutely absurd.

I'm lost. What is the issue with medications (other than their price. Or perhaps why their prices are so high)?

In general the cost of drugs is probably one the of the main reasons our Health Care costs are so high. Saying you want to cut down on the price of drugs is generally a far left issue(even more moderate Dems won't touch this).

My antirejection drugs cost about 10,000 grand a year, and I know cancer patients who have drug costs waaay higher than mine.

Pharmaceutical companies need to be brought under control. People say they'll leave the country. What are they going to do? Sell drugs to socialist and poor countries?

Chaffetz Goes After Ethics Watchdog Who Dared to Criticize Trump

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligence...fter-ethics-watchdog-who-criticize-trump.html

So he won't go after Trump who has conflicts of interest, but will go after the group asking about the conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, he's also said he still might investigate Hillary.

I hope this guy gets his due and gets caught up in his own corruption scandal. It's only a matter of time.
