Discussion: WikiLeaks

So now we're back to square one... You can't believe everything you read on the internet. I have little doubt that Michael Moore gave an inaccurate portrayal of Cuba's healthcare system in order to pad up his film's argument (so what else is new? lol), but clearly in regards to the film's distrubution in Cuba someone is feeding us BS, and it's either Michael Moore or Wikileaks. Seeing as Michael Moore is not an international fugitive, though, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

It's probably a good idea to take a lot of what's coming out of both sides with a grain of salt. I'm for wrong doings from our government being exposed, and I'm not exactly a fan of the people behind all this either tho. I have no intention of blindly believing every leak. Assanage sounds like a *****e, but I don't focus on one man, but rather what important info comes out of the leaks. There's bound to be a bias (probably multiple) coming from those involved with the leaking (those actually getting the documents, and wikileaks themselves). Just as there are those who will say or do anything to discredit the leakers and wikileaks out of fear of something they did coming to the surface. I think it's more key to not label everything as fake or true, but rather take each leak on it's own merits and reaserch a bit if it's important enough to you.

I think the internet trains us all to jump to conclusions to easily (i.e, "Fake!! Photoshoped!!"....I mean seriously, I don't think I've run across a Youtube video yet that has over 1,000 views where someone hasn't said fake...or first, lol). I'm sure some of the leaks probably are from heresay...on the other hand Washington wouldn't be sweating fake leaks either, let alone tossing things like treason around.

From what I've read The “rape” charges against Julian Assange are unfounded and the lack of evidence will most likely lead to his acquittal.

Typical Honey Pot......

Even if he is convicted in Sweden of whatever he did, that still does not guarantee he will serve any time. Right now he's the guest of honor of the former British army captain Vaughan Smith at Ellingham Hall on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk. He's probably the most pampered political prisoner in the world.

Anyone hear about the group that left wikileaks to form 'openleaks?'

I knew that there were a portion of the wikileaks family that are not happy with Assange......

Yeah people inside wikileaks are turning on him and so are his contacts at the guardian. He is not the saint some people want to portray him as and those closest to him are stepping up which is pretty crazy cause I didnt expect that myself.

Not that Im saying that it did or didnt happen, but I find it pretty funny that him and his lawyers are screaming bloody murder and asking for privacy when his court docs leaked.

I don't think anyone portrayed him as a saint, they only defended his right to operate his website.

Also no one is "turning on him", Domscheit-Berg left the organisation because of disagreements about how the site was run. He still supports Assange.

Open leaks knows the value to the whistleblower organizations like Wikileaks. They're just doing things a bit different.

The goal remains the same, stop potential injustices, and ignored humanitarian crimes.

He is being portrayed as a saint in terms that he is free from any wrong doing or sin and that everything against him has no legitimacy but anything that he proclaims just has to be legit without any loss of credibility.

Yes people are turning on him. Someone from inside wikileaks had no problem going to the press and explaining the groupie sex life assange has and how he was warned it would lead to problems and the guardian, who was one of his top contributors and partners he was leaking to, not only chose to publish a leak of his own court documents, but has decided tonot colaborate altogether with him any longer. People from within wikileaks have desserted him as well. Lets not mention the Bank of America and Paypal who have stopped any transactions going their way.

Thats a turn if Ive ever seen one.

Cant say exactly wether he indeed is a sexual pervert or not, and I do think that the release of that information to the public is harsh but he certainly is a hypocrite for wanting that to be away from the public.

I don't agree with OpenLeak's "democratic" style of organization. But their idea of using other organizations as proxies for publication does seem strategically sound. Really diffuses the targets for the governments; makes it more difficult of counter-coordinations. Unless they decide to go big brother on steroids (which I wouldn't put it past them).

By who? The media? A mass consensus of people?

Someone sold out for some cash, so what. Like I said, Domscheit-Berg still supports Assange, they are on good terms and share the same goal.

That's what news papers do, they publish stories and as far as who decided not to collaborate with who, it seems more likely that after the Guardian story, WikiLeaks chose not to collaborate with them.

People from within wikileaks have desserted him as well.

They left to start their own company, goals are the same. Different methods.

Lets not mention the Bank of America and Paypal who have stopped any transactions going their way.

They stopped because they were ordered to stop.

Let the courts handle it, we should be focusing on the information he leaks, not his personal life.

LMAO! The man in charge of wikileaks is demanding privacy? What a joke. :lmao:

That's basically what wikileaks was doing until Assange started turning it into the Julian Assange power hour this year.

WTF? Stay away from my money jackass....

What money? It's the "government's money" haha :woot:

Fine, the President can come teach my classes....

He is doing just that, he is just outsourcing it to you. And he wants you to fetch Paradoxium a cup of coffee - all black no cream or sugar - while you are at it. He totally told me that :woot:

Could Wikileaks action have influenced the FCC ruling on the internet? Made a thread here...

Could wikileaks make burritos less tastier as a part of it's plan to co-opt the NWO. With the aid of PETA no less????
