Disney to bring Cinderella back in live action

Saw this, and liked it quite a bit. The performances were great, and Branagh brought a nice dose of British humor to it. Cate, Lily, Helena, and Madden all fit their roles beautifully. Grainger and McShera were perfect as the step sisters, and Anozie was well cast as the prince's Captain. Atwell did what she could with her small amount of screen time. Rob Brydon's cameo had me rolling.

The film is very brisk up to the ball, and the begins to drag a bit once Cinderella gets there. I was surprised by how poorly Branagh shot the dance scene. It was also a bit odd that James looked her best as a servant, then on her big ball night.

The only real change I would have made though was the glass slipper finale. I would have had the prince destroy it. He already knew, there was no need. All and all though, a very good time. Also, the Frozen short was awesome. :yay:

Glad you liked it hon. I'm seeing it tomorrow and hope I dig it as well.

Yeah, the whole family dug it. I was surprised by the tone. It was classical, but with a bit of a Monty Python or Fawlty Towers. The meeting between Cinderella and Kit is pitch perfect. Madden surprised me in his leading man qualities. After seeing him for 3 years on the show you will not watch, I didn't expect it out of him. He is going to get a few roles out of this. Same for James.

Though do me a favor and pay attention to the scene when Cinderella's dress changes. I swear, they had no idea what they were going to do with it. Poor James is there just twisting and turning for what feels like minutes on end. :funny:

Doctor Who > Cinderella :awesome:

So damn adorable. I also hate Richard Madden. :csad:

I think Kenneth Branagh is kind of a wishy washy director at times so I'm not surprised at your complaint about an awkward scene or two.

I am a big fan of Branagh, but yeah at times he goes a bit too much for the theatrical.

Also, Game of Thrones!!! :argh:

It was fantastic. Cute, fun, funny, the song was a lot of fun and it was just so good seeing those characters back together and I just had a blast ^_^

....oh right there was the Cinderella post credits movie too. :oldrazz:

Cinderella (2015) - 8/10
+Lily James is really good
+The costumes and sets are gorgeous
+The added material certainly helps make the film better than the original
+The mice don't talk
+She and the prince actually talk to each other!
+The prince actually has some personality
+Helena Bonham Carter wasn't obnoxious like I've found her in a number of recent films she's done, she was actually pretty good
+Cate Blanchett is having a lot of fun and is quite good
+The cinematography is fantastic
-The CGI animals are really bad XD
-The lizards to footmen thing...my god they are the scarier than anything I will see in a horror movie this year
-Like Darth said, I would have preferred they just skipped putting the slipper on at the end

I'm not a big fan of the first, but I really enjoyed this.

This movie is a classical re-telling that positively shines. The Director, Kenneth Branagh doesn't let up on the fairy tale aspects at all and that helps the film a great deal. He uses bright colorful hues and everything is spotless! I think that's how this land should be too! As much as this is a straight up adaption of the animated film that is a classic in it's own right the film strikes out on it's own by adding depth to our main characters and cast as perfect as you can. Knowing that Madden was capable from Game of Thrones i was excited to see him play a character that is more or less flawless, he nails it. Cinderella is played with such convincing earnestness and genuine kindness you never once see an actress but the character. Lily James was an unknown to me and she now has my attention because she knocked it out of the park as the title character. On the other end of the spectrum Cate Blanchett killed it, just killed it, as the wicked Stepmother who has slight resemblance to a humane person in any regard. She is wicked but given a few scenes that allow us to see in the tiniest fraction that she has reasons but those are soon forgotten in viewing her make a prisoner/slave of our sweet Ella. I like this film because it is brutally faithful to the story and that makes it's fun viewing material. It's overly sweet and simple but you're engaged because it's also so visually stunning. 8/10.

It's was a delightful re-telling of the classic animated film, Wonderful directed by Kenneth Branagh who keep the essence of the piece in tact with great casting, good musical score and dazzling effects that is truly Disney magical. Unlike Malificent, I really enjoyed this film and I'm liking the fromula that Disney is doing by bring back there iconic classic films from 90's era and bring them to life in live action. Can't wait for Beauty & The Beast next…

Btw loved the Frozen short : Frozen Fever, was very heart-warming and sweet.

I'm so used to Bonham Carter playing dark weirdos the casting threw me off, but the fairy godmother is just as weird as her other roles, which actually kinda worked.

I liked the Cinderella 50s film and I loved this!!! I kinda want to watch it again in cinema! My favorite film of 2015 so far! Its just really good, heart-warming and so beautiful!

I wish Sleeping Beauty(Maleficent)/Alice in Wonderland (2010) were as good as this one!

It took my cynical cold heart a while to warm up to the film but when I did I was more or less enchanted. I thought the film was delightful and kinda made me feel like a little girl again. Just a really feel good film. On a side note my mother loved it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, ISS. :woot:

Spidey enjoyed a movie? The end times, they are upon us.

:woot: It brought me back to my Cinderella coloringbook days.

:) That's great to hear. The film really did a good job at capturing the charm of the original that early Disney films had.

Oh, something I just recalled about the film. A possible Easter egg in the swing scene. The scene, at least to me, was very clearly emulating the painting "The Swing", which inspired the visual style for Tangled and appeared in Frozen.

And that painting shown in Frozen is originally an homage/wink to The Princess and The Frog.

Don't you mean Tangled?

You know what, I'm totally mistaken, I read somewhere that the girl in the paintings appearance and outfit was an Homage to the Govenors Daughter in Princess and The Frog. I'm now seeing that of course I can't find that link. Haha. Yea but you are soooooo right. MY BAD!

Thankfully the reviews won me over because I really enjoyed Cinderella. I didn't even mind the fake looking CGI that plagued Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent. The cast was terrific, especially Lily James as Ella and Cate Blanchet as the dreadful ***** I'd always hated from the animated classic. I really don't have much to say about thing I disliked about the movie

8/10

Frozen Fever was great as well. It was fun to see Elsa, Anna, Olaf and the others again in the short.

I thought Richard Madden was totally dreamy and very, very likeable in Cinderella.
