Disney to bring Cinderella back in live action

She's about as pretty as Emily Browning or Emily Blunt. Which is to say, cute but not hot I guess.

Lily James isn't stunningly beautiful now. Really?

Well I was hoping for someone more like Rapunzel in Tangled who really looks like a fairy tale princess.

Lily James is very attractive, but she looks more like someone who might play in Downton Abbey. :p

Even Elle Fanning in Maleficent didn't look really beautiful enough to be someone who was supposedly blessed by good looks by the fairies. She was more like Sleeping Cutie.

This.

I think cute can be quite hot. But hot is different then beauty imo.

You were hoping for a CGI character? :hehe:

Now I would have cast someone like Emma Watson or Sarah Gadon, but Margot Robbie? Insanely hot as she is, she doesn't really classify as a "classic beauty". Which is sort of the idea here.

Personally, I thought Miss James looked quite beautiful in the trailer.

Not a CGI character. But someone who looked more like a live action version of Rapunzel in Tangled. That kind of look with the long hair (but not as long as hers, obviously), and who doesn't just look like they come out of an English period drama but has a more distinctive look.

I think the main heroines of these fairy tales should really stand out from everyone else, almost in a magical way, but the actresses who have been cast in these Disney ones recently seem like they could blend in too much with the rest of the cast or that society there. Which is what I think Emma Watson and Sarah Gadon would've done as well.

I guess the pictures of these fairy tale princesses that I read when I was young tended to look more like Margot Robie than Lily James.

I get that we all know the story, but did they really need to make the trailer a cliff notes version of the entire story?

Maybe it is just me, but I thought she stood out quite well, especially once she was "made up".

The Rapunzel thing is confusing to me. The problem many would bring up with the Disney Princesses is that they couldn't possibly exist.

I honestly expected the movie to be something else. Looks a bit too cartoonish and Cate Blanchett doesn't seem as menacing as Lady Tremaine.

Doubt this will be as good as Ever After: A Cinderella Story.

Well, when I think hot I think, and it's superficial, chicks that look more...glammed up hot I guess. Lily and the Emilys look like chicks I could probably see at the mall or something. I wouldn't turn them down or whatever, but you know. :o

Glammed up? terry is looking for that Jersey Shore style Cinderella. :hehe:

Yeah, I'd agree here. They look like people I see around here in England on a regular basis.

Maybe "stunning" isn't quite the right adjective, because that can just conjure up images of being very beautiful. Lily is certainly beautiful. Maybe a better word is "striking". That's what I'd like Cinderella to be, and that's what I mean when I'd like her to stand out.

Maybe they should've cast someone foreign (ie not an English actress). A more European look or from some other country would've made her immediately different to any of the other women around and a bit more exotic than just another English rose.

Meaning they will probably pad the hell out of it.

this is not a CGI fest like the other disney movies. thumbs up.

Guess Disney just saved people a movie ticket by condensing the entire film into 2 mins. This really feels like an unnecessary film.

Jesus is every second film for the next decade going to be a remake/re-imagining of something that's already been done?

One thing the trailer didn't spoil? The wedding scene at the end:

Looks like Blanchett and HBC are having a blast.

I wouldn't mind if they updated the general concept of Cinderella toward more modern sensibilities. The emphasis shouldn't be on her pure physical beauty that the prince falls in love with, but other qualities as well. That should take some of the pressure off the need to find some kind of Aphrodite incarnate to play this role.

What, did I just wander into f***ing tumblr?

Where's all this b****ing coming from?

People were expecting Cinderella the gritty grounded version :oldrazz:

Not me. I want it even more high fantasy. I want a Cinderella who doesn't just look like any attractive English girl you might find over here.

Looks better than I thought...Myself...I can't wait.

It's not like it's surprising trailers show the entire movie in 3 minutes these days. This actually looks better than I thought; I'll be watching.
