Disney+

Well, the first tweet pretty much says they're going to use some of the responses for marketing or publicity, so of course they need to put a legal statement in there about it so nobody can sue them later on. No surprise there. It's sort of like a release form.

That's exactly what it is. They couldn't use the tweets without that.

If they truly want to make this service a destination, they can't be so rigid, especially when they are offering PG-13 material on here. Titanic is PG-13 and has Winslet nudity in it. Do you believe Cameron would be OK with Disney+ censoring his film on a premium subscription service?

It's simple. Put a couple extra warnings on there, offer an unedited version or the like. Or even some minor family blocks.

I'm not saying put Altered Carbon on there, but this is nonsense.
It seems inevitable that from a business POV they'll need to loosen up, especially as more competition comes into the marketplace. I have no doubt the strategy will be worked out in due time, but it's frustrating that while they're figuring it out, we've lost some potentially great shows along the way like Tron and a Muppet series. As much as I really liked High Fidelity, that show feels like it should have been on Hulu from the start, which gets back to strategy. That being said, the Star Wars and Marvel shows alone have the potential to make it the biggest streamer in 5 years.

As for the idea of combining it with Hulu, it is not the best strategy at the moment (but certainly in play for the future). Disney + at it's current price point is a global land grab. Easier to scale (all global brands) and much less licensing issues region to region to deal with. Something like HBO Max, which will have more variety (and cost more), doesn't seem to have the global ambition as Disney for it's service, as it will not be in many territories for a long while. Scaling is not as much a concern at this point, so purchasing licensed content (South Park, Doctor Who) and licensing content to other providers (Sky, Hotstar, etc) is strategy.

Except most lawyers I've seen are saying it's not binding because Twitter isn't Disney's platform, and therefore cannot enforce its own legal disclaimers on it. Different story if it's their own platform. Not that I expect anyone to sue Disney for using their Tweets, but on the off chance someone did Disney apparently wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on because they are using someone else's service. In fact they may very well be breaching Twitter's own ToS. Hence why people are openly mocking them.

I can imagine Trumpelstiltskin trying to invoke an NDA or ownership claim by way of tweet.

I’m sure Disney has an army of lawyers who already looked into this Twitter thing

Vader is Anakin - it would have made sense, if you show Hayden Christensen as other half of Vader...but Luke is larger than life

Prop Culture is cool like I expected. Watching the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids episode and it's awesome seeing Rick Moranis being interviewed and also seeing 3 of the kids reunited

They should have showed Hayden’s face too. He was the star of the prequels.

After this post I realized that this is Luke and not Ray.

Is Prop Culture on anybody’s radar here? Because I just watched the Nightmare Before Christmas episode and I quite enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

I‘ve seen the pirates one - nice to watch, but not a big highlight.
Disney really needs a great new original.
The movies of the vault are great, and for weeks I have problems to decide, what to watch in evening...
But on the other hand it’s only (hopefully) Mandalorian Season 2 in fall and WandaVision in winter...that’s not much for the next months

Luke is the main character of the 'good guy' side. And yeah

While I agree, showing Vader AND Hayden on the poster would have been weird since they would basically be showing the same character on the poster twice. They had a choice and went with Vader. Maybe they should have done a second poster with Hayden's picture at the top instead of Vader?

I'm sure their thinking was that they HAD to use Anakin as Vader since he's arguably the most popular character of the entire franchise, and if they hadn't gone that route they'd be getting complaints about Vader not being on the poster.

I want it to be the 4th already for Star Wars day on Disney +. Last episode of the clone wars, Rise of Skywalker added and a documentary series for The Mandalorian.

Summer is also adding two more MCU films.

On the Disney side though, where is the classic Zorro TV series damn it?

Since when did Disney own America's Funniest Home Videos? Just found 9 seasons on the service. Interesting!

Anything produced by ABC is theirs.

Kylo and Rey both are on the ROS poster twice.

And Anakin and Vader are both on the ROTS poster.
