^^ agreed.

maybe it's because they are 3d animated, but I've found the 3d princesses, Rapunzel, Anna, and Elsa, to be much more real and relatable as characters.

all their quirks and mannerisms and nuances in their movements and facial expressions.

I loved it when Anna was fantasizing about flirting with a guy and she was draped in the curtain and moving her shoulders, trying to act all sexy look. and then she stuffs chocolate in her face.......lol

"Don't know if I'm elated or gassy. but I'm somewhere in the zone......"

so was Olaf the snowman that Elsa created during Let It Go?

also, this may be a bit far out there........but since Elsa's snow creations can come to life (Olaf and Marshmallow ), do you think she imparted some of her "soul" into each of her creations?

For example, she created Marshmallow out of anger to drive Anna and Kristoff away. That's why Marshmallow is aggressive and his lines are "Get Out", "Don't Come Back", etc.

With Olaf, perhaps he was created out of Elsa's love for his sister and her memory of happier times. Remember, Olaf says to Anna "Because I love you." And how else did he know to call himself Olaf and that he likes warm hugs? That's exactly what Elsa said when she and Anna created the snowman when they were little.

also, perhaps Olaf's desire for summer and warmer weather is a reflection of Elsa's own desire to be free of her curse and control her powers and the swirling winter storm inside her heart.

am I reading too much into it??

"The picture of sophisticated grace"

The entirety of "For the First Time in Forever" is exactly what I am talking about.

And I am honestly not understanding the talk of the music being underwhelming. It is very similar to past best Disney efforts, outside of Beauty and the Beast. It has 4 potential classics, and 3 other strong songs. Only Beauty and the Beast beats that imo.

Yes. [BLACKOUT]Anna recognize him, but because of the memory wipe, she doesn't know exactly why[/BLACKOUT].

the songs and music do have a different "style" to them. so perhaps it's not for everyone.

but it has a very broadway feel to it, and I like that.

I also like that each song is unique and has its own personality to it.

Frozen Heart has a very gypsy vibe to it and reminds me of the opening song in Les Mis "Look Down. Look Down......"

Do You Want To Build a Snowman starts of really sweet but then turns really sad and heartbreaking. In terms of melodies, it's the prettiest song, imo.

For The First Time In Forver is quirky, flowing, and free spirited. which fits Anna.

Love Is An Open Door has a catchy beat and is also very quirky and fun. It's also a joy to watch on screen, [BLACKOUT]but that makes the subsequent betrayal even more heartbreaking and painful.[/BLACKOUT]

Let It Go is raw, emotional, powerful, defiant, and liberating. it fits Elsa.

Reindeers are Better Than People is a sweet, cute lullaby type song that was way too short, imo.

In Summer is playful and filled with irony.

Fixer Upper has that big broadway ensemble feel.

When they do the robot. :funny:

I can't stop listening to the soundtrack. "For the First Time in Forever", "Let it Go", "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" and "Love is an Open Door" on constant repeat. :yay:

Why does the Demi Lovato version of "Let it Go" exist anyways? Seriously, it is so bad in comparison. No way to sell a film.

Is it any different than the single versions of Beauty and the Beast or A Whole New World or Can You Feel the Love Tonight?

It's doing fine. Higher on iTunes than the movie version. I do like the bridge that the single version has.

It is higher on iTunes for a few obvious reason.

It is different in that it is far inferior. Making the single version of "Beauty and the Beast" always made sense, considering who sang the film version and how it plays. Idina Menzel does this for a living and it shows, especially in comparison.

I wish we got to know where Elsas powers came from. They clearly live in a land of magic so either someone down the family line had to have it or she was gifted or cursed as a baby.

It's probably better to not have a reason, as it makes it more of a "we don't understand this thing, and there is really no way to cure her" scenario.

btw....did anyone catch the Rapunzel cameo??

some people were saying online that there's a girl with short brown hair in a pink dress who looks like Rapunzel.

I caught it ( I think it's during For the First Time in Forever ), but I couldn't really tell if it was Rapunzel.

some also say Flynn's in there, too. but I didn't catch him.

I don't really mind Demi's version of Let It Go.

but I much prefer the lyrics and singing of Idina's version.

and yeah. you really can't compare Demi's Let It Go to Celine's Beauty and the Beast.

in fact, Beauty and the Beast is such an iconic song, it's hard to really compare anything to it. at least in terms of Disney love songs.

Let It Go is closer to Go The Distance or Reflection in terms of the kind of song it is. a more introspective, "this is who I am or what I'm dealing with" type of song.

One day, the pregnant queen got sick so the king went in search of a magic golden flower. but along the way he got distracted by chocolate and picked up the wrong magic flower. he took it home, boiled it into soup, gave it to the queen, and voila!!

Thought this was cute. It felt
more like a Broadway musical and after finding out who the leads were, it's no wonder why. It was refreshing to not really have a main villain in the movie, which made the twist even more surprising.

The only time I got that feeling in Tangled was when they were dancing around in the town. Even though there wasn't any singing involved. I also got a "folk songy" vibe at the beginning of Frozen when those men were cutting the ice.

I like Tangled a lot. But the acoustic guitar and chord arrangements in all of the songs pre-"I have a Dream" are very 1960s folk. Which is intentional if you listen to Menken talk about the movie. Whereas Frozen sounds like a big Broadway production made in the last 15 years, and one of the better ones at that.

Does anyone else think it was a wasted opportunity when they didn't[BLACKOUT] have Olaf melt all the way into a puddle? I thought it was building up toward that sad moment, but it was just a quick one and done thing the way they did it in the movie.[/BLACKOUT]

That's an interesting point. I think it would have been sad, but the bigger and more important moment for the story obviously is [blackout]Anna dying and then coming back.[/blackout] The scene you're suggesting would be a little too similar to that, except with a comic relief sidekick. Keeping his problem in a comedic context was probably for the best.

I remember when I first saw Tangled and heard the acoustics, I was a little jarred because I was expecting that Broadway sound. I got used to it pretty quickly, though, and have loved it ever sense for trying something different.

Yep, that's very true. It really would've been too much.

As for my favorites:

Favorite Song: Let It Go
Favorite Scene: Let It Go ( I mean. Elsa letting her hair down. HELLO!! :hrt: )
Favorite Character: Elsa

can you sense a theme there?? :oldrazz:

what were your favorites?

You Elsa lover, you! :woot:

Favorite Song: A tie between Love is an Open Door and For the First Time in Forever

Favorite Scene: Love is an Open Door

Favorite Character: Anna

I wish we got to know where Elsas powers came from. They clearly live in a land of magic so either someone down the family line had to have it or she was gifted or cursed as a baby.
In the movie, the trolls ask if she was born with her ice powers or if she was cursed and her parents say that she was born with them.

Love Is An Open Door is a very catchy tune, indeed.

when I 1st heard it online, I was like.........Hey!! I like that!!

then I saw snippets of the scene online and was like........Holy Crap!! Anna and Hans are so adorable together!!

[BLACKOUT]and that makes the you-know-what by you-know-who even more painful and it does kind of take the joy out of the song. Stupid Hans!! How could you do that to adorable Anna!!![/BLACKOUT]

so what do you guys think Anna's hair color is?

would you say she's a red head or a strawberry blonde?

in the books she has a lighter hue to her hair and looks more blondish.

but in the movie, she looks more like a red head.

and when I say my favorite character is Elsa, that doesn't mean I dislike Anna in any way. It's almost a tie between the sisters, but I like Elsa slightly more.....lol.

I thought she was a brunette or perhaps a dirty blonde. All that matters is the freckles though. :D

she had freckles on her shoulders, too, didn't she?

and Elsa had freckles, too, right?

Yep, freckles on the shoulders. Elsa seems to have freckles as well, but they are hard to identify do to her complexion.

awesome!! glad you loved it!! :woot:

Not counting Pixar's Brave and Incredibles, Frozen was the 1st Disney animated film I saw in the theaters since Tarzan way back in 1999.

It was certainly worth the wait!!

I was entranced from start to finish and loved every minute of it!

Yep. Not counting Pixar, I haven't seen an animated Disney movie in theaters since Mulan. And this is just as good. It is so refreshing. Though, I wish I had seen Tangled a few years ago in theaters.
