I agree, but i kinda wanted more complicated and more layered of a plot as well.

Its not that I "need" explanations for the magic for its own sake, i just think they could have come up with something that would have layered the plot more and made the story more interesting.

well, to each his own. it's all a matter of taste.

for me, Frozen was pretty much perfect. I rank it up there in my top 4 Disney films ( BB, Tangled, Mermaid, and now Frozen......in no order ).

hope you like the next Disney movie better.

that's the Marvel animated one, right?

so that's gonna be considered part of the official Disney animated lineup?

When people talk about their favorite Disney animated film, it's weird that Aladdin gets somewhat neglected.

Aladdin was like the start of getting celebs to voice sidekicks.

@mid night

Yes and No. I think love it as much as the others but it doesn't mentioned as much as The Lion King, Beauty, or Mermaid. I think it's equally as good as those; Infact I think it's better than the Lion King.

yes......and I think it came to be more of a crutch, especially in the later films. especially when the sidekick characters overshadowed the leads.

Both Tangled and Frozen have gone away from that, thankfully, by NOT getting super big-name celebs to voice the characters.

Yeah, before Gad was cast I was sure they were gonna get some A lister to voice Olaf.

and I don't think I'd had even heard of Josh Gad before until Frozen. Same with Idina Menzel. or the guy who voiced Kristoff.

the only one I'd had heard of was Bell, and that's because I think she voiced some video game character and I've seen her in a few movies on TV.

but even then, she's not an A lister, either.

And I also like with Tangled and Frozen, they've gone back to getting voice actors who can do the speaking voice AND sing. In some of the later renaissance films, they were using one actor/actress for the speaking voice and another for the singing.

I mean.....take the trolls in Frozen. do we even know who voiced them?

It certainly doesn't seem like they got A list celebs to voice them.

And they could have. Disney certainly could have gone all out with the trolls and made them more prominent ( hey.......more merchandising, right? ).

Like, in the prologue, a baby troll could have hitched a ride on young Anna ( or Elsa ) and returned to the castle with them, becoming that character's only friend during the lonely years.

However, just like the pub thugs in Tangled, the trolls in Frozen were used sparingly. They only showed up a few times, provided some comedy relief, served their purpose in the story, did a song and dance number, and that was it.

Quality over quantity.

Though the idea of someone like Brad Pitt voicing Olaf would've been kind of surreal.

hmmm..........not seeing it.........lol

How bout......Gilbert Gottfried as Olaf..........then Olaf could go around saying "Son of a *****!!" :o

I'm just glad Olaf turned out to be funny and endearing and not super annoying as I had initially feared. same with the trolls.

Actually, the funniest character turned out to be Anna!!

I give it a 10/10 one of the best movies of the year! Disney impressed me with Princess and Frog, Tangled, Winnie The Pooh and Wreck it Ralph, i really enjoyed this.

The movie should have crossed $100 million domestic tonight.

good! isn't that half of what Tangled did in its entire run?

Yes, about that.

The Princess and the Frog and Tangled both ended with a domestic tally of about four times their opening weekend (24m/100m for the former, 48m/200m for the latter). If you apply a similar metric to Frozen you'd end up somewhere in the 270 million range.

I actually really liked this, although the trailer didn't pull me in. I went to take my son to Free Bird, which I didn't have high expectations for. Technical difficulties led me to Frozen and scored me two free movie passes. :) Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the whole movie 'cause someone got to throwing up. :/

Loved the characters, the music, the imagery... I look forward to seeing this without all the interruptions. :)

It was. But at least it made sense with Robin Williams, as only animation could keep up with his wavelength. But more aptly, it gave Katzenberg the idea or faith in something like Shrek. And that has been the gameplan for animation forever since. Oh well.

If Frozen can make anywhere near 270m, domestically, that would be pretty damn impressive.

and that's not counting the international #s.

Tangled did pretty good internationally, too, didn't it?

and yeah. I really hope you can see it again and enjoy the whole movie.

it really is amazing from start to finish!! :awesome:

was it just me, or did it seem like the ice in Elsa's castle changed colors at different points?

1. During Let It Go, when she's building the castle, there seemed to be a purplish hue to the floor ice before she waved her hands and changed the color.

2. In the scene where she's pacing back and forth saying "Don't feel. Don't feel.", and then the ice spikes towards her, I think the ice had a reddish hue?

3. Then when Hans and co attack her, the ice had a golden hue.

was it the ice itself changing colors? or just reflecting light?

did anyone else notice this?

oh, and someone else pointed this out about Hans:

When Elsa has that thug pinned to the wall with her ice spikes, and the thug's going to fire on her, Hans looks at the thug, then quickly looks up to the chandelier, before going over and aiming the thug's bow at the chandelier. It's very quick, but it means that Hans was really trying to kill Elsa during that scene!! :wow:

just scroll down a bit on this page and look at the gifs:

Just got back and I loved it Disney is killing it with their movies lately I mean Tangled, Wreck it Ralph, and Princess and the Frog (which everyone seems to forget/hate but only a few have actually seen).

I did want them to explain the magic though as it's just random as hell, but it's no big deal that they didn't.
