It's one of my favorites too, but i don't remember it making as much money as the ones i mentioned

I put in a request for some screenings, why not right? lol

nice early reviews are nice!!

but someone mentioned their 3d glasses were drenched in tears..........

I knew it!! it's gonna get sad before the happy ending. :csad: :waa:

I really am curious to see how this would've looked as a 2D flick. I like the overall design but I know that's what they were shooting for before the decision not to.

Personally I think the animations and design look stale as hell.

Who did the songs for this film? I'm guessing it's not Alan Menken.

The songs? I thought he was just a score guy?

EDIT: So according to Wiki the songs are by Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Robert did Avenue Q and Book of Mormon, and together they did Disney's Winnie the Pooh, so that's cool. Haven't heard the music from Winnie the Pooh (other than that song She and Him did), but I love Robert's Broadway work, and considering the awesome voice cast (I feel like I haven't heard Bell sing since Reefer Madness), I'm really looking forward to this soundtrack now.

My stepdaughter really wants to see this and after seeing the trailer find reading a bit into it this looks like it could be awesome, and it comes out on my birthday.

Here comes the Raves:

Hollywoodreporter:

Shrewdly calculated down the the smallest detail in terms of its appeal factor, this smartly dressed package injects a traditional fairy tale, Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, with enough contemporary attitudes and female empowerment touches to please both little girls and their moms. Energetic, humorous and not too cloying, as well as the first Hollywood film in many years to warn of global cooling rather than warming, this tuneful toon upgrades what has been a lackluster year for big studio animated fare and, beginning with its Thanksgiving opening, should live up to box-office expectations as one of the studio's hoped-for holiday-spanning blockbusters.

Variety:

But this always enjoyable tale of mysterious magic, imperiled princesses and square-jawed men of action proves longer on striking visuals than on truly engaging or memorable characters. With the family crowd pretty much to itself this holiday season, “Frozen” should generate considerable box-office heat, if not quite the same level of critical and audience affection that attended the superior “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph.”

The Wrap:

This is the best animated musical to come out of Disney since the tragic death of lyricist Howard Ashman, whose work on “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast” helped build the studio’s modern animated division into what it is today. And while “Frozen” may provide some new outfits for young princesses-in-waiting, it’s a movie that inspires inner strength to go with those outer ruffles.

Digital Spy:

Frozen is an exhilarating, joyous, human story that's as frequently laugh-out-loud funny as it is startling and daring and poignant. Hot on the heels of the 90th anniversary, it's impossible to imagine a more perfect celebration of everything Disney is at its best.

IndieWire:

And this film is an incredibly strong addition to that lineage, one full of genuine magic and awe, where ice castles can materialize out of wintery air and snowmen can dream about hot weather. As far as animated movies go, it doesn't get that much better than "Frozen." It's a new Disney classic.

Den of Geek:

This is the best Walt Disney Animation Studios movie in a generation, and the best family movie - by a considerable distance - of the year. It's an astounding piece of work, and the kind of film that we'll still be buying on whatever's replaced DVD in 30 years' time.

Raves!

I think this has the Animated Oscar all sewn up.

Damn, those are some seriously positive reviews, I don't recall Disney getting such high praise in a long time. Looks like I'll have to take eat my words, that said Disney didn't help by releasing some seriously dull looking trailers early on.

Seeing Disney get reviews this good again makes me feel a tad bit warm inside and nostalgic, it feels good.

Disney has sucked the life-force out of Pixar and is using their power as its own.

Yeah, seems that way. Next up is Pixar's renaissance in 10 years from now and Disney's films starting to suck again.

Only thing i don't like right now thought is the insistence to not have any 2D animated film and changing classic tales names like Rapunzel and Ice Queen to Tangled and Frozen. What would Snow white and the seven dwarves be called if it was made now? Appled? or Dwarfed?

Yea - the idea they have to change the titles of stories because boys won't see them is ridiculous.

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and even the newer ones when we were young like The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Mulan, Pocahontas didn't drive away boys when they came out - why would Rapunzel and The Snow Queen?

It never made much sense to me.

Well to be fair, I don't think Mulan and Pochantas were the blockbusters like The Lion King was. I'm not really bothered by them picking a name that would endear itself to a larger audience

I don't think the titles had anything to do with those films not being as successful as the liked of the Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast were very successful, and there are many other films without a "girly title" that have failed.
