Animation Disney's 'Moana'

I don't know about the DVD, but the blu ray covers I have seen all feature both prominently. The only difference between that Mau is huge, but usually they are either standing side by side or Moana is standing in front of him.

Yeah, those are different. The DVD I saw had them both sailing over the water on the boat, Maui is in front with his hook and very much front and center. Moana is sort of hanging off to the side, much smaller, and not prominent in any way.

This?

The only one like that, but yeah annoying.

Yeah! That!

Why didn't they put Moana in front and Maui in the back? She should be at the center of the picture.

This is where I think people read too much into things, there's nothing wrong with that cover and Maui is so huge he's always going to take the eye on any type of cover.

sueb, dude, relax.

It's only one cover. Besides, like Hunter Rider said, Maui is big in comparison to Moana. This doesn't take away from her role in the film or what people think of her. Chill.

I do see Sueb's point though. The movie is literally named after her but she looks like a supporting character though. They probably could have fixed the perspective a bit

Well, it's not like I'm losing sleep over it or anything, it's just annoying.

This had quite a few similarities with Wonder Woman.

Anyone think that Auli'i Cravalho is a bit like a young Vanessa Hudgens?

I just watched this for the first time last night and I thought the same thing lol...I take it you caught it on Netflix too? Beautiful movie, shot up into my top 10 favorite disney movies.

I think since it came first Wonder Woman had a few similarities to it lol! But yeah I agree especially that last act

Diana could easily have sung Moana's song "How Far I'll Go"

I watched Moana over the weekend and I was thoroughly impressed. It didn't get mired in an unnecessary love story and it avoided making Moana a Mary Sue. The visuals were, not surprisingly, absolutely stunning.

Then there was the greatness of the song "You're Welcome." I couldn't stop laughing at the lyrics and the Rock's singing was solid. I can rarely remember the music in any movies, even when it's keenly important like in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 or 2, but I was instantly a fan of that song.

I missed this in theaters and just found it on Netflix. Aside from a few promos I saw last year, I went in completely blind, which is extremely rare for me, having no clue of the plot and never having heard any of the music. Absolutely adored it. The story was unique-yet-timeless, the visuals were some of the best I've seen from Disney, which is saying a lot, "You're Welcome" was hilarious and my goodness does Auli'i Cravalho have a beautiful voice. Aside from Inside Out, Disney Animation has totally had Pixar beat for me over the last several years.

I thought Disney's first Latina princess was that chick on Disney Jr. Elena something or other.

I don't think that one is part of the official Disney princesses line up. Then again, neither is Moana.

Moana is, at least according to Wreck It Ralph 2. Just not a princess in the traditional sense.

I would watch a sequel though. I thought the first was one of the better animated movies of late that didn't feature annoying pop songs and pop culture references. I could easily see it being a Broadway show based on the songs.

This doesn't make any sense. Why would the sequel be about a Latina princess.

How old is Miranda's father exactly? :o
My guess is Luis just inadvertently used the wrong word, for example, Page Six (in the paragraph prior to Luis' quote) - opts to use the word "follow up" as opposed to calling it a "sequel" (follow-up, to me, makes more sense as it doesn't necessarily always mean a "sequel")

Uh, that would make more sense than a Polynesian girl who lived thousands of years ago randomly stumbling upon a Latina princess.

She's a Disney princess but she's not part of the Disney Princess franchise. Neither are Elsa and Anna. I know it's weird but it wasn't my decision

She's more of a Princess than Mulan, who isn't royalty at all. She isn't descended from royalty or married to royalty. Mulan's a great character but she's not a Princess.

I didn't realize there was a whole official franchise around it.

Disney has dedicated a lot of work into their Princess franchise and curated it big time. It makes them a lot of money so they are careful about just taking any female character and giving her Princess status.

Which is somewhat strange considering some of the actual princesses who aren't Princesses.

My favorite Disney animated movie ever!

The animation is gorgeous and breathtaking. The songs are beautiful (also my faves from Disney) and whole the movie is just so emotional.
