Okay, we all saw the episode were Nathan just flies away from his kidnappers. When he flies away though he causes a sort of mushroom cloud in the sky...then causes a contrail
That isn't possible since he didn't have an engine or other stuff that would give gas emission...unless he farted.
Sorry I just had to let my feelings out, Nathan Petreli let a huge one rip in the air and I think thats freakin sick (not in a good way) :o

that mushroom was him breaking the sonic barrel(speed of sound)

Breaking the speed of sound wouldn't cause a mushroom cloud sponotaneuously (yeah I know I spelled that wrong)...
And not only that the contrail that follows..That only happens from aircraft engine exhaust

actually breaking the sound barrel does make a cloud like that, seen pics of planes doing something like that and the contail is him pulling the clouds behind him

Morg's right. The cloud was caused by him breaking the sound barrier.

I did research, thats a quite interesting phenomenon and its good to know that Nathan didn't fart

But it does lay another question, his body must generate a body shield to protect himself moving at that speed otherwise he would had one hell of a windburn

That is so true. Iguess his body must make some natural protective sheild

or maybe the writers/creators never expected anyone to look in-depth into this
maybe they figured that you guys would watch it, say "wow, that was cool", and then leave it alone

:D I was going to say the same thing.

yea i think thats true, cause in the vision that peter has iof him being the exploding person nathan come right up to him, either so they both can go out together, or cause he knew hed survive and wanted to b with him at his end.

Then the writers must be idiots for thinking that knowing people like to nitpick.

My theory is that his flight is due to a superconductive organ or nervous system. This could also, conceivably, generate an elecromagnetic feild around him that negates friction, protecting him from the dangers of moving at the speeds he does if such an interal system were designed properly. Also, it would account for his being able to react to moving at such speeds, since a super conductive nervous system would also givew him superhuman reaction time and thinking speed.

He skids to a stop outside the restaurant (http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/heroes.shtml?show=heroes05) and is 'ouching' like it hurt his feet. He didn't look injured, though, like one normally would be after skidding barefoot across the rocky sand. Wouldn't his flight speed cause more pain than the landing?

I was half-expecting to read a joke/punchline somewhere at the end.. :o

I would assume from his landing he made that Hiro witnessed that he has a good one. The way he landed I'm pretty sure one's feet would be peeled off!:wow:

I still think there is more to Nate's powers than we have seen so far.

He has to have some sort of superhuman strength, speed or durability if he can survive flying at speeds and having reflexes like that.

I think he might have aerokinesis where he can move air molecules using his mind. That would allow him to fly by having the air molecules push him and avoid wind-burn by moving the air molecules out of his way like flying in a vacuum.

I hope the writers are thinking of this stuff considering the type of people who are attracted to a superhero show are of the nerd and/or geek variety.

I Have Always Wondered Since Nathans Only Power Is Flight, Why Doesnt He Ever Get Hurt Since He Is Still Human Flying That Fast. He Isnt Invulnerable Like Superman Or Captain Marvel Etc. He Is Still Human Just A Human Who Can Fly.shouldn't He Be Ripped Apart Peice By Peice By The Speeds He Fly At.

But it does lay another question, his body must generate a body shield to protect himself moving at that speed otherwise he would had one hell of a windburn

And somebody should patent the waistband on those jammies.

The most popular sound barrier breaking pics are of jet fighters and space craft like the shuttle but as you see even craft that considered slower moving are capable.

Contrail

Condensation from wing-tip pressure

The wings of an airplane cause a drop in air pressure in the vicinity of the wing (this is partly what enables a plane to fly). This drop in air pressure brings with it a drop in temperature, which can cause water to condense out of the air and form a contrail but only at higher altitudes. At lower altitudes, this phenomenon is also known as "ectoplasm." Ectoplasm is more commonly seen during high energy manouvers like those of a fighter jet, or on jet liners during takeoff and landing, at areas of very low pressure, including over the wings (**or in the case of a hero...arms, shoulders, head or hands), and often around turbo-fan intakes on takeoff.

I have always wondered since Nathan's only power is flight, why doesn't he ever get hurt since he is still human flying that fast. He isnt invulnerable like Superman or Captain Marvel etc. He is still human just a human who can fly. Shouldn't he be ripped apart peice by peice by the speeds he fly at.
Fixed.
Remember, kids: you only have to use CAPS for the first word in the sentence, and proper nouns.

Anyway, I just assumed Nathan puts up an inertial-dampening forcefield, like the one the Flash uses. Flying at speeds like that should push Nathan's brains into his feet, and his eyes shouldn't be able to take that kind of wind. However, it's like he couldn't feel it. Even grinding his feet into the dirt during his landing only seemed to hurt about as much as a slight rug burn.

The Flash does the same thing. He doesn't feel the G's or wind pressure when he runs because he generates a skin-tight forcefield. It's the same reason why Jay Garrick's helmet never falls off (he never even needs to adjust it).
