Django Unchained

I love Kill Bill but I dont it was meant to be as cerebral as his first three films..

Cohen is such a cool choice. My God, I can't wait to see what Tarantino does with him.

I don't agree with that. Kill Bill is my favorite film of his.
I think that since he had established himself, he's had time to do films that are kind of love letters to the movies he loves. Django is no exception.

Listen to him talk about writing IB. KB was meant as one movie but he overindulged in his eccentricities. After a critical and artistic muddling in Death Proof, he refocused and streamed his efforts in IB and made a tighter, more focused/restrained movie for the better.

I disagree about kill bill. He did a great job at creating this minianthology of revenge and love.

With death proof, i agree, but tarantino admitted it was more b-movie influenced than any of his movies that's come before. It was more or less meant to be crappy but don't let him off the hook for that.

For those who read the script, is Jamie Foxx a good fit for Django?

I ve just finished reading the script. And I m sure Tarantino has another masterpiece by his hands. Jamie Foxx is a surprisingly good fit for Django in my eye and the whole cast is beyond my dreams. It can only be great.

Got a question though: Do we know when principal photography of this begins?

Looks like Tarantino's found his new editor, which is Fred Raskin. (Raskin was assistant editor for both Kill Bill movies.) Most of his editing credits consist mainly of the past three Fast & Furious movies, which seems like a pretty odd choice.

It's a shame Sally Menke died. She and Tarantino knew exactly what they wanted when they worked on each film together. It'll be interesting to see how Raskin does on this film.

Thought I'd share an interesting little tidbit. Im a student at Tom Savini's Makeup FX school, and just last week a KNB FX rep doing a seminar, my instructor and a couple classmates got the pleasure of doing a lifecast of him for this movie. I guess he has an interesting death scene. Im really looking forward to this.

That's pretty awesome. The lifecast was for Tom Savini?

Sorry, havnt checked this thread in a while. Yeah it was on tom, heres a couple pics. shhhhh!!! :cwink:

That is awesome!

But he looks terrified covered in the blue goop.

Btw, this poster exists. Not official of course, but I dig it.

What makes me sad is the likelihood that the real poster will suck.

After all this is the same company that commissioned this

But used this instead

It's alright

I guess my main problem with it at the time was that many of posters were very similar to the posters for Valkyrie the year before.

Or even the Box, which is a terrible, terrible movie.

Also as much as I like the painted unused poster, I dislike how there is two of almost everyone on the poster. There were other characters they could have put on there, but I digress.

Wait did you just edit your post? I didn't see that painted poster. That's ****ing beautiful. I love old school looking posters like that.

Yeah link was broke. That's what I'm saying. That's not fan art, that was commissioned, and then not used.

Kind of Like Struzans posters for both Hellboy movies.

Also good. Don't you just kind of love the internet sometimes?

:hehe: It is pretty awesome to see legitimately good fan posters for a movie that's still a year away.
