Do alternate realities exist?

Take the example of Shrodinger's Cat. Imaginary box, imaginary cat, put imaginary cat in your imaginary box. Now imagine a tiny radioactive particle that may or may not decay in 1 hour (sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't), and imagine a bottle of poison gas that only gets triggered to open when the particle decays and place it in the box with the cat. After 1 hour the box must be opened. When the hour is up, just before the box is opened, the cat is both alive and dead - and you have at least two alternate realities, one in which the cat is alive and one in which it is dead.

If you're just imagining this, then you only have this reality and a daydream while you work.

Scientists probably found a way into an alternate reality, but need the right energy to open a door there.

The thing with Shrodinger's Cat is that the cat is NOT both alive and dead...you merely don't know if he is alive or dead. Your personal view of what is or is not does not determine the fate of the universe...and if you are unsure of what the truth is, it doesn't split the universe into a mirror image of itself.

There is no reason to believe that every action we take causes some new alternate reality where we make a different decision.

Thats how I always saw it. I never understood how that theory made any sense.

Considering we do not understand the universe I would say anything is possible. Whether it is multiple branes (not the thing in your head); flat, spherical, or sadle shaped; multiple, parallel, or alternate no one knows and truth be told none of us can know. At least, not in my life time more than likely. So anyone saying this is impossible is thinking like the people who once said the world was flat, or that the earth is the center of the universe. Until you have the means to test the theory and prove it its all opinions and guesswork. Might as well keep an open mind.

It's not that it's impossible...it's just that there is no evidence to support it's existence. If we believed in every single POSSIBLE scenario then the world would be chaos. It is silly to believe in possible scenarios without evidence to support it.

The sandwich I'm about to eat COULD be the one, true God of the universe...but I'm going to assume that it's not and eat this sucker.

As it's been said above, there is no solid evidence for the multi verse type thing however it's a possibility. Black holes being a wormhole to getting there? I would doubt that very much, well, you wouldn't be getting through there in one piece but rather a single stream of atoms after being ripped apart by tidal forces.

A "unique" way to go for sure though!
